WHAT ARE WE PREPARING OUR STUDENTS FOR?
Psychology is the term used to identify the science that investigates human mind and human
behaviour, aiming to understand, explain and even predict how humans think, feel and
behave. Psychology can be instrumental in building and preserving mental health of
individuals, as well as coherence and effectiveness of groups and organizations.
Our graduates will be prepared to embark in specialized postgraduate training programs to
become accredited professionals in various applicative fields of psychology, from
psychotherapy to human resources management. They could also teach Psychology in
secondary schools, become researchers or professional helpers for various kinds of problems,
age groups or cultural backgrounds.
Education is the best strategy invented by humankind for transferring between generations
the knowledge, languages, skills, values and attitudes needed for survival and growth.
Education is also a most powerful agent of change for individuals, groups, organizations and
nations.
Pedagogy is the term used to identify the science directing its research effort towards
education, or as an umbrella denominator covering a wide range of specialized sciences (like
Psychology of education, Philosophy of education, Theory of instruction, etc.) that would
investigate from different angles the multifaceted reality of education.
Our graduates will be qualified to become effective teachers in Lower secondary education,
but also able to embark in further studies to become researcher, policy makers or professional
providers of counselling and assistance in upper secondary, vocational, higher or further
education.
We encourage our students to acquire entrepreneurial skills in order to identify new ways to
foster individual and societal wellbeing and in doing so, become their own employers.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Our Faculty aims to connect the academic process to the developments in the contemporary
Romanian society as well as to the scientific and professional developments in EU countries
and in the world.
As a consequence, we educate professionals that would be able to design and implement
programs and policies capable to develop human psychological and educational capital, to
promote mental health, social cohesion and solidarity, to foster the impact of quality
education on sustainable economic and social development.
In order to accomplish this, our Faculty produces/develops, disseminates and promotes
knowledge, skills and attitudes by research, teaching and taking part in debates and scientific
events at national and international level. We also encourage interaction and team work
between our faculty staff and students in order to develop relevant professional skills.
OUR VALUES
The values that we support and promote are democracy, cooperation, competence,
professionalism, collegiality, honesty, public responsibility, creativity, effective and empathic
communication, solidarity, expressivity, transparency, sensitivity for the needs and
expectations of the students, European identity.
OUR TEACHING STAFF
All of our full time faculty members hold PhD degrees or (a few) are engaged in doctoral
studies.
They are both committed and capable to communicate with the students, to provide
intellectual and emotional support, to encourage team work. Cooperation is seen as the key
component of relationships between faculty and students, rather than authority.
Our teachers take part in national and international conferences and are active in publishing
research results, scientific papers and academic textbooks.
