ice in complete serenity, Franz Hummel is proposing a relocation, to a
place where the weather is still our friend… to Québec. It’s here that
he will revive a challenge that has been lying dormant since 2004, the
«Master on Ice», a mythical event, that has traditionally been held on

In honour of its move close to Montréal, this Mont-Blanc trophy now
becomes the Master on Ice «Classic», and is restricted to 2WD cars manufactured up to 1989. From next February 25th to March 3rd, two events
will be on the itinerary and the competitors can choose to participate in
one or the other, or of course, both.
History
1970
1st Global Car Race on Ice
at the Road Racing of Grépon in Chamonix Mont-Blanc,
called the : 1st Winter Round.

The Winter Round changed its name and
became the 1st 24 Hours on Ice in Chamonix.

Quebec Rally : February 26th to 28th, 2013
The Ronde Hivernale «Revival» will include half a dozen daily special
stages, contested over distances of 10 to 20 kilometers, with two sectors run at night. There is no time-consuming transfer to deal with,
since only 80 kilometers separate the ICAR Complex, the base for both
events, from the start line of the first special stage in Kenauk Park (www.
fairmont.com/kenauk).
On tuesday the 26th, after the prologue on the ICAR circuit and on the
next day, the 27th, during the Ronde Hivernale «Revival», the competitors are scheduled to stay at the Fairmont Château Montebello, one of
Canada’s most typical and prestigious hotels, offering refinement at the
heart of a wild environment.
The team, consisting of a driver and a teammate may, if desired,
swap places for the third leg (4 stages in the Parc Kenauk
and the super special stage at the ICAR circuit).

24 Heures sur Glace «Revival»
Circuit ICAR, March 1st to 3rd, 2013
Big emotions never die, they remain as sleeping embers in the back
of our minds. All it takes is to blow on it a little to relive the adventure
with pleasure and passion. Its with this feeling of reclaiming, that Franz
Hummel, timekeeper of a legendary race, launched the wager to relive
Chamonix «24 Heures sur Glace» on the Circuit ICAR in Mirabel (www.
circuiticar.com).
In order for this resurrection to succeed, the former organizer of the
«24 Heures sur Glace de Chamonix», signed a agreement with Marc
Arseneau, president of the ICAR Complex, an international autodrome
situated on the former site of the Montréal-Mirabel airport.
The current track’s infrastructure is used to staging NASCAR races and
has proved that changing from hot to cold temperatures or from slick
to winter tyres isn’t an issue. In terms of technical aspects, security and
organisation, ICAR regularly welcomes over 20,000 spectators and
approximately 40 drivers.
Characteristics of the 24 Hours
The 24 Heures sur Glace «Revival» will take place on a circuit that
conforms to FIA Off Road Ice specifications, with a length of 1.6 km,
on a asphalt surface, covered in a coating of ice at least 30 cm thick !
The width of the track, varying from 15 to 20 meters, is in fact the
largest existing track in the world. This advantage will facilitate passing and eliminate contact between the cars. Yves GUILLOU (F.F.S.A),
course director and «Revival» car enthusiast, is very familiar with the
«24 Heures sur Glace» after having directed this event in Chamonix
for many years.
On March 1st, 2nd and 3rd 2013, heading up his team and with the support of Auto Sport Québec, Yves will now retake the checkered flag, the
one that he recently handled at the Mont-Blanc.
The race will take place in 6 Rounds and one Super Final.
Each Round will be for 30 minutes with 2 drivers, changing drivers will
be mandatory and must take place in the pits between the 10th and 20th
minutes of the race.
The course will be run in both directions, for the practices as well as for
the Rounds.

Each competing vehicle will have a minimum of 2 and a maximum
of 3 drivers and one mandatory passenger. However, the passenger
may be different for each round, provided they are licensed.

We want to reassure any fans who feel that racing in Canada is a complicated idea.
We have made the decision to stage this unique turnkey competition
based on our experience of staging successful events (organising international races since 1999). Our expertise means that car lovers and ice
racing fans only have one thing to do : enjoy.
Competitors won’t have to worry about the administrative
or technical issues for the first 24 Heures sur Glace Revival
event as the organisation will take care of all the logistics :
- Cars and freight will be transported by our partner CONCEPTUM
LOGISTICS (www.conceptum-logistics.de), a major transit company
that can collect them from Lyon (F), Le Havre (F), Genoa (I),
Southampton (UK), Antwerp (B) and Hamburg (G)
and deliver them straight to the ICAR Complex in Mirabel (QC).
- The MARRIOT-CHATEAU CHAMPLAIN hotel in Montreal
(www.montrealchateauchamplain.com) will provide accommodation
to all the competitors as well as a base for the organisation, sports
and technical management, briefing point and prize-giving location.
- The FAIRMONT CHATEAU MONTEBELLO the competitors
are scheduled to stay during two days at the Fairmont Château
Montebello (www.fairmont.com), one of Canada’s most typical
and prestigious hotels, offering refinement at the heart of a wild
environment.

Tires for the Master on Ice «Classic»
The tires will be from one sole manufacturer, defined by the Organizing Committee in accordance with the Official Manufacturers :
VREDESTEIN 155 R 15 snow + equipped with glued studs (200 points
per tire).
- For the Ronde Hivernale «Revival», the maximum number of tires is
fixed at 12 tires per car for the Prologue, the 10 stages and the Super
Special.
- For the 24 Heures sur Glace «Revival», the number of tires is fixed
at 16 per car for the 6 Rounds and the Super Final, including the open
practices, the Official Timed Sessions, and the warm up.
VREDESTEIN Tire Orders
- The deadline to order tires is set for Monday, November 15th 2012.
- The price for one studded tire is €245,00 including VAT.
