POSIDOSE Specifications are subject to change. Edition: january 2006. Principle Posidose enables the extraction of a single dose of FDG from a multidose vial into a shielded syringe, ready for use. The entire operation is controlled remotely, ensuring absolute safety and minimising radiation exposure for the operator. In use, the shielded vial is clamped into the lower portion of the unit. A shielded syringe with needle is clipped into place above it. Rotating a single external handle inverts the complete assembly, whilst simultaneously causing the syringe needle to puncture the stopper on the vial. A second handle operates the syringe plunger, enabling the operator to withdraw the required volume into the syringe. Large, highly visible, graduated scales are provided for either 5 cc or 10 cc syringes. The complete assembly can then be re inverted and the filled shielded syringe removed, ready for use. The Posidose fits easily into the Lemer FDG shielded glove box or other shielded cell, with the controls mounted externally. Simple mechanical connection reduces the risk of failure associated with more complex electrical mechanisms. 3, rue de l’Europe - 44470 CARQUEFOU (France) - Tel. 33 (0)2 40 25 24 04 - Fax 33 (0)2 40 25 18 37 e-mail: contact@lemerpax.com - www.lemerpax.com 5 Nuclear medicine Specifications are subject to change. Edition: january 2006. Remote control extraction device for FDG 6 Initial position. Pressing on knob A causes the rotation of the system and the descent of the syringe needle flask. Once it reaches 180°, the extraction can be done. Pressing on knob B allows regulation of the extraction from the flask. Pulling on knob A causes 180° rotation of the mechanism; the needle & its syringe disengage from the flask. Return to the initial position; operator can retrieve his syringe protector with his dose ready for injection. 3, rue de l’Europe - 44470 CARQUEFOU (France) - Tel. 33 (0)2 40 25 24 04 - Fax 33 (0)2 40 25 18 37 e-mail: contact@lemerpax.com - www.lemerpax.com New Nuclear medicine Patent pending FDG syringe shield Type PSW Type PSWG Principle This tungsten syringe shield, with sliding shielded cover, provides improved protection when handling high energy radiation emitters such as I131 (360KeV) or F18 (511 KeV), reducing radiation dose to both hands and body. The combination of a 6 mm thick tungsten body and 9 mm tungsten shield on the piston side provides a high degree of all round attenuation, whilst the 1mm thick plastic lining stops beta radiation and errant bremstrahlung. A tungsten cone at the front minimises radiation leakage. Two quick lock systems hold the syringe and plunger securely inside the shield whilst a milled button can lock the syringe piston in position. The protection against isotope radiation is accomplished through the exclusive use of tungsten (thickness 20 mm lead equivalence 30 mm), in order to get outside an extremely low and homogenous exposition rate during all phases of use. The choice of the tungsten as a biological protection is to improve the volume and the mass in order to facilitate the handling for the operators and improve the fire resistance. This protection is calculated for a maximal activity of 20 mCi of FDG in the container and an equivalent rate of absorbed dose of 25µSv/h (2.5 mrem/h), at 20 cm of the system and of 10µSv/h (1.0 mrem/h), at 33 cm of the system. The container has two opening possibilities: - complete opening for the loading / unloading of the 30 ml vial; - extremity opening that allows the way through of a needle in the vial in order to do the fractionating operations by limiting the exposition of the operator to the radiations. This container has a plastic adapter that allows to adjust the inside diameter of the container to the different vial type. Specifications are subject to change. Edition: january 2006. The syringe, in its tungsten syringe-shield (Ref. PSW5 or 10), is vertically introduced in a 30 mm lead shielded safe. The syringes that can be used with this system have a capacity of 5 or 10cc exclusively. The protection is calculated for a maximum FDG activity of 20 mCi in the syringe and an equivalent rate of the absorbed dose of 25µSv/h (2.5 mrem/h), at 10 cm of the system and of 10µSv/h (1.0 mrem/h), at 16 cm of the system. Outside of the safe, a support allows to hang up a NaCl sac (the NaCI is used to rinse the catheter after the FDG injection). The whole of this equipment is integrated in a trolley with casters in order to move it from the preparation lab to the injection place. HFL5 Specifications are subject to change. Edition: january 2006. Technical description The HFL is above alfa Class II safety cabinet which ensures the triple protection of the operator, the environment and the product. But it is also beyond the minimum level required by international standards, both pleasant and convenient. Convenient in use designed for ease of maintenance, with active protection, the three factors affecting biological safety, etc. to the power of 3. Protection A class above with even more guarantees. Uniformity of flow, constant air speed, efficiency of its filters, speed and flow rate of its air curtain (protective barrier), proportion of air exhaushed: all these characteristics respond to the international standards NF X 44-201, NSF 49, DIN 12950, BS 5726. In order to cover specific requirements, the HFL 5 exists in certified versions having been subjected to examination by the respective official organisations: • NF model French standard NF X 44-201, NF label • GS model German standard DIN 12950 Teil 10. • BS model British standard BS 5726. Because you can never do too much when it comes to safety the HFL 5 incorporates numerous additional assets. The risk of contaminants escaping from the plenum (over-pressure chamber) is eliminated: this compartment is entirely surrounded by zones of negative pressure. • Filter blockage. To maintain a correct flow rate and proportion of exhausted air, it is necessary to increase the speed of the blower. With the HFL 5, no human intervention is required because it permanently auto-regulates the speed. • The air barrier can fulfil its role as protector. An arm rest frees the passage of air by lifting the sleeves of the operator above the intake slots. • The height of the frontal intake is fixed. Excessive opening, which would destroy the protective air barrier is impossible. The window is perfectly airlight its seal is correctly compressed along its length and is never subjected to friction. The cabinet cannot be used in error at half speed: in the standby position the lighting is automatically extinguished. No danger or burning by ultraviolet rays: they are available when the front enclosure is in place and the main lighting is extinguished. Maintenance A clean conception to optimise decontamination. Smooth surfaces, easily accessible and without crevices: the working surface of the HFL 5 has been designed to allow complete decontamination. The single piece U formed chamber has rounded corners and is without soldering. Its epoxy coating resists abrasion and disinfectants. Spillages are retained by the non-segmented work surface : no need for a drain, which would act as a site for contamination. To clean the space beneath the work surface, simply lift the panel without removing it from the cabinet and rest it on its strut. Even the inside of the window is easy to clean when swung fully open. Essential monitoring of the cabinet facilated by the presence of the DOP test outlet fitted as standard. Filter exchange can be carried out in record time: simultaneous access to the two filters is from the front panel. In addition, the control and lighting electronics, situated in a non-contaminated zone, is easily accessible from the outside. dable and requiring no adjustments. And finally convenient to install: cramped passages, elevators, airlocks are no longer a headache! The minimal depth of the HFL 5 permits it to pass everywhere (78 cm or with electronic panel dismounted: 73.5 cm). Handling is safe and simple : fitting points for lifting handles (Cat. N° 89000547) are built-in as standard. Options and accessories • Support stand height 70 cm (height of work-bench = 80 cm). • Front enclosure : very lightweight, rapidly fitted thanks to magnets and slides away into its support during work periods. • Front enclosure fitted with germicidal UV lamp. • Gas tap for a Bunsen burner. • Vacuum valve with progressive tightening. • Two 16 A earthed electric sockets with protective panel. Convenience Comfort and reassurrance. It can never be over-stated: when we feel at ease we work better and more safety. The HFL 5 has everything to please those who must work for long periods, frequently and who aspire to a justifiable level of comfort. Support for the back and arms, assured by the arm rest, smooth to the touch. Restful for the eyes thanks to a white interior, without reverberations, combined with powerful lighting, close to the level of daylight. Unobitrusive thanks to a more than quiet noise level. Principle Lemer presents the shielded bioshred, a nuclear medecine biomedical waste shredder. The bioshred is a new innovation in the area of the treatment and handling of radioactive hazardous biomedical waste. The bioshred medical waste shredder is a significant step forward in reducing radiation risk in the hospital and clinic environment. This new concept offers a reduction of volume, and easy storage of the principle types of bio nuclear medicine waste. The principle of locally handling the treatment of waste greatly simplifies and reduces the cost of overall radioactive waste management. Shredding of all types of nuclear medical waste in one easy step: this includes plastic, glass, syringe needle, etc. Decontamination of the waste material by saturating the waste with a decontaminant spray throughout each shredding cycle is possible as an option. Reduces the risk of infection from punctures and cuts from infected waste. After processing, the waste is stored in a solid leak proof container. Short treatment cycles and ease of use reduce operator time and energy requirements, thus reducing costs. Cycle times can be adjusted to suit specific types of waste. The bioshred is a small, mobile, easy to handle system that can be placed in almost any area. The bioshred conforms to all present and proposed international normes for safety and is protected by a number of patents. Numerous safety features protect both operator and equipment. The bioshred was developped to solve the ever growing problem of increasing volumes of medical radioactive waste, as well as to offer better protection to hospital personel, patients and visitors. It also offers better protection to the overall environment by decontaminating and reducing the volume of land fill material. The bioshred offers a simple and effective means of handling the problem fo nuclear medicine medical waste. 3, rue de l’Europe - 44470 CARQUEFOU (France) - Tel. 33 (0)2 40 25 24 04 - Fax 33 (0)2 40 25 18 37 e-mail: contact@lemerpax.com - www.lemerpax.com 67 Nuclear medicine Gas venting system Réf. 02090000 Principle The gas and aerosol venting system provides ventilation by aspiration while a patient is inhaling and exhaling radioactive elements.
