December 2015 marked Two Creeks’ 20th year hosting the Holiday Lighting Contest.
We had wonderful participation with nineteen households entering. As always this was
a fun event. We hope everyone enjoyed decorating and participating as much as we
enjoyed judging and the neighborhood enjoyed your beautiful lights!

CHF Rotomolding @ 1315 Lamar Street 80214 has
been in our Two Creeks area for the past 4 years. They
produce polyethylene water tanks from 50-300 gallons
that are light weight and rust proof. They are made only for wholesale customers, including farmers for liquid
fertilizer and, in New Mexico, for storage of drinking
water.
These tanks are made using a food grade polyethylene
manufactured in Texas, from natural gas, which looks
like white sand. The very fascinating process to make
the tanks is to pour the “sand“ into two-part molds that
are placed in huge gas fired ovens and rotated to form
the tanks. After cooling, the molds are separated and
the finished product is a perfect water tank.
We are pleased to have manufacturing businesses in our
Two Creeks Neighborhood.
Restaurants
IN & AROUND
Two Creeks
Established in 1952, The Lakewood Grill, located at
8100 West Colfax Avenue is the oldest bar in Lakewood. The outside is not flashy, nor is the inside for
that matter, but the atmosphere is comfortable and the
food is definitely worth stopping in! The moderately
priced menu choices range from unique and tempting
appetizers, to generous, delicious burger and sandwich
combos, as well as a few Mexican favorites. There are
also wraps, soups and salads for the lighter appetite.
After a difficult time deciding, we tried the Italian Sausage Sandwich and the Bleu Burger complete with
fresh homemade chips and cold beers. We were definitely not disappointed in our choices! Lakewood Grill
is opened Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to
2:00 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to
2:00 a.m. (yes, they are opened for breakfast on the
weekends!) and hosts a variety of live bands on the
weekends. We are looking forward to going back and
trying the Rattlesnake Eggs, Mexican Egg Rolls, the
Street Tacos, the Mexi Burger, the Monte Cristo….
Looks like we’ll be back a lot!
Two Creeks is happy to welcome new neighbors Mike
and Pam Thorfinson to our neighborhood! They live on
Harlan St. in Section 6. Mike and Pam, we’re so glad to
call you neighbors! We hope you enjoy Two Creeks.
Are you interested in helping out the local schools to
make sure kids in Two Creeks get the best education
possible but you don’t have much time to give? You
can still help by saving Campbell’s soup labels and box
tops and taking them to the schools so that they can get
much needed equipment for the classrooms. You can
also donate frequently needed items like pencils, Kleenex, Ziploc bags and other things that they run out of
quickly. Ask for a list of things from the Secretary, 303
-982-6240. They will appreciate the help.

The snow will be
coming and going
for awhile yet, but
we are busy behind
the scenes plotting
and planning for the
year ahead! 2015
was a challenging
but rewarding season
in which we were
able to grow over
4,500 pounds of natural and heirloom
produce, 17% of which went to community food pantries at Mountair Christian Church and Molholm Elementary School. We are excited about 2016 and are
hopeful for a productive and community filled season.
Seeds are ordered and we look forward to trying some
new varieties while also continuing some tried and true.
We have expanded our production area and will continue to utilize the Lower Triangle. We will be hiring a
new farm manager soon, as Jordan has left us to focus
on his counseling career. Our Community Advisory
Committee is active and always accepting new participants. We currently are developing a full line-up of
events and educational workshops.
Signup for 2016 shares of veggies, fruit, eggs, and meat
in our Community Supported Agriculture programs has
begun! Details are on our website,
www.sproutcityfarms.org. Check out your options for
tasty, fresh and local seasonal foods direct to you from
the producers! We do have work share and SNAP/EBT
shares available. Pick-ups run for 17 weeks, late June to
late October. Signup is first-come, first-served, so don't
delay!
Sprout City Farms is excited to celebrate our 6th annual
Sprout Down! Wednesday, March 16 th from 5:008:30pm at the Mercury Café, 2199 California St, Denver. As always, this event is fun for the whole family
and includes tasty small bites from local restaurants,
cash bar, live and silent auction, booze pull featuring
assorted wine, beer, and other liquor, live music and a
caller for square dancing with Chris Kermiet and the
Boulder Bogtrotters, carnival games and more! Suggested donation of $20 at the door (includes 2 food tickets)
or $35 per couple (includes 4 food tickets). Kids enter
for FREE! Food tickets are $2 or 3 for $5. Please plan
to join us at our annual hootenanny to ring in the
spring! Check out the Facebook event page or our website for more information.
