Pambrun
Campus
Sunnybrae
Campus
Phil Ruten,
PRESIDENT
A great promise and
reminder of who God is is
found in Psalm 74:12.
It says, “Yet God my King
is from of old, working
salvation in the midst
of the earth.” God is not
defeated by those who
oppose Him and the never ending
turmoil, pain, and dysfunction of this
world. He will accomplish His purposes. Nothing is too difficult for Him. This
is the God we serve. What a comfort
to know that we are in His total care.
We thank God for His many blessings
– blessings of things going well and
blessings which are from
deep challenges.
I want to provide a brief campus update for your information, but to also
acknowledge the part you play in what
God is doing and to thank you sincerely.
We currently have 174 students registered in Pambrun and 60 at Sunnybrae.
Our prayer is that for each one this
will be a significant year of growth as
disciples of Jesus.
The summer season was full of activity.
Praise the Lord that the building project
is going well. It is ahead of schedule
and on budget. We will not go into debt
with this project. Phase 1 is paid for
and basically complete and Phase 2 is
now underway. The finances continue
to come in, allowing us to continue the
work without interruption. We have
hired two young men with trades experience to work this year specifically on
the project – Aaron Teichroeb and Joel
Ruten. Our facilities staff will also be
helping as time permits.
We welcome Adam and Tiffany Nicholas
and their family who have joined us
from Black Diamond, Alberta. Adam
brings his much needed expertise in
technology to this ministry. With the
departure of Dale MacFarlane, Cindy
Cadieux is now overseeing our rental
properties. Her husband Tim is a third
year student.
Some changes have taken place in the
Education department, both in Pambrun
and at Sunnybrae. Don Friesen retired
and Chris Brown has taken on the
position of Registrar. David Ruten will
serve as the Registrar at the Sunnybrae
campus. With the addition of a third
year class there, Jorin Green and his
family have moved to BC where Jorin
will be taking on a full load of classes.
We have also added Matt and Bri
Fontes to the Sunnybrae staff where
Matt will serve part time in the role of
Men’s Dean. Our Fine Arts department
at Pambrun has a number of part time
staff, each bringing a unique gift and
talent to the department. Lorie Thiessen
is instructing in our drama and communications classes. Jessica Evans is
preparing our chorale and teaching
violin. Randal Schroeder is splitting his
time between the building project and
helping to develop our chapel praise
teams and Replica—our travelling worship team. Kathy Covert continues to
lead the drama in a reduced capacity.
Meagan Ong is our piano instructor,
accompanist and drama instructor. We
are blessed with many gifted young
people in the area of the arts and our
goal is to equip them to use their gifts
and to serve more effectively in the
local church.
God has blessed us with a great team
both in Pambrun and at Sunnybrae and
we continue to covet your prayers as
we seek to be faithful to the call He
has given to us. By God’s grace, lives
are being changed as our students
study the Word of God, come under its
authority and grow in their walk
with God.

Steve Janz,
DIRECTOR OF THE
SUNNYBRAE
CAMPUS
There is an air of
anticipation hovering
over our Sunnybrae
Campus as I type these
words. Just yesterday we
had two early groups of
students arrive. Eight of
our student leaders arrived on campus
to embark on three days of training,
planning and seeking God. Another
twelve upperclassmen also arrived to
serve as our Transition Team - helping
to transform Sunnybrae Bible Camp
into a college campus over the next few
days. By the end of this week over 26
new students, along with staff and 35
upperclassmen, will be navigating their
way around the campus and getting to
know each other.
We have been working throughout
the summer in preparation for this
new 2014 – 2015 college year. Courses
were developed, churches were visited,
planning meetings were attended and
now we desire for God to draw both our
students and staff closer to Himself.
We look forward to seeing the majesty
and splendor of who He is, tasting and
seeing that He is good. We know that to
experience Him is all satisfying and the
source of our joy, and that as a result of
this, He alone will be glorified.
Thank you for praying for us as we
begin our 3rd college year at Sunnybrae!

BUILDING UPDATE
By Harry Peters
This summer we had a great crew—mainly of staff and students—working on
the building project. Don McElheran, a former staff member, gave leadership on
the project until the end of June. In July and August the fascia and soffits were
installed by the summer crew and the roof was shingled by Nathan Hildebrandt,
now a freshman here in Pambrun. The concrete floor was poured in August and
as soon as the ground was dry enough, we were also able to install all of the
windows, thereby starting to close the building in.
We are thankful that God brings the right people for the work to be done.
At the end of August our crew dissolved due to other commitments, and as
of September 1 we hired Joel Ruten, a graduate of Millar, and Aaron Teichroeb
who are both tradesmen in the construction industry. We are so blessed to have
them on staff here; they are diversified and willing to do what needs to be done.
Presently their focus is on getting all the fireguard drywall up on the ceiling,
steel beams and posts. Thanks to a farmer in the area we have the free use of a
motorized scissor lift - a real blessing for the 16’ high ceilings! Our goal this winter is to get all of the walls built and then to focus on getting the front area with
the washrooms and reception area completed for next fall. The final stage of the
project is estimated at $500,000. Of this, over $100,000 is already in place. Pray
that God would move the hearts of those that He wishes to financially support
this project. We are grateful to the Lord for the positive response we’ve already
seen to the recent appeal letter that was sent out.

Testimony
Coming back for a third
year at Millar seems like
a total dream! It feels like just
last week I was packing up my
things for my freshman year – filled with nerves and excitement for what God would teach me. It’s hard to believe that
was two years ago already! These past two years have been
so wonderful, but it hasn’t been without challenges and
convictions that God has put on my heart.
Just lately God has been showing me the power, importance and privilege that
we have in simply praying. In our Ethics class, our professor spoke about how
much freedom we have in communing with God every moment of the day! Psalm
116:1-2 says, “I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy.
Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” How
incredible that our holy, righteous and perfect God inclines His ear to me – just
another way that He shows His constant love and pursuit of us even when we are
far from perfect. God has placed in my heart a desire to pray, to know Him more
and to walk in obedience daily – laying down all of my hopes and plans to submit to His will for my life - His “good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2b)!
Through studying the Scriptures more deeply this year and the roles that I have
in the Student Fellowship Committee, Student Leadership and being a Prayer
Team leader I trust that God will again show Himself to be outstandingly
faithful, good and unchanging!’
Preston & Jessica Evans
By Cliff Giesbrecht
We are excited to introduce to you Preston and
Jessica Evans. They may
be new to our staff but
they are not new to Millar
College of the Bible. During Preston’s third year
of 2012-2013, he met first
year Jessica Bouthillier
and they were married in
Vernon, BC on September 14, 2013.
Preston spent his first twelve years in
Melfort, SK and his teenage years in the
Okanagan Valley. With a keen interest in
learning how things work, he brings
a very diverse set of skills from construction and renovations to mechanical and
manufacturing. Having youthful energy
and also experience beyond his years,
Preston has already proven to be a great
asset to our college in his role as Director
of Maintenance.
Jessica grew up in a variety of places but
spent most of her formative years in the
Okanagan Valley and the Medicine Hat
area. Since the age of four she has spent
many hours singing and playing violin and
piano. She loves children and has worked
with those who have special needs. Her
part-time role in the Fine Arts Department
is teaching violin and chorale as well as
some administration. Additionally, Jessica
is the teacher of the local pre-school
in Vanguard.

Adam & Tiffany Nicholas
By Kayla Abbott
This past year has seen several staffing changes at both campuses. One
of these changes has been the addition of Adam Nicholas as our new
Director of Technology. Adam moved to Pambrun to begin serving in this
role at the beginning of July.
Originally from Kamloops, Adam met his wife Tiffany in her hometown of Black Diamond, AB while he was running a business on
behalf of his sister and brother- in-law. Adam and Tiffany met over
a game of horseshoes, where, as he fondly puts it, “She won the game
and my heart.”
For the past several years, Adam has been working for ITS Global as
their Systems Administrator and Customer Support Team Manager
while Tiffany has been a stay at home mom to their three children,
Isabelle (13), Allison (12) and Elijah (10). Since their move to Pambrun
and the start of the college year, Tiffany has also joined our part-time
staff in the Food Services Department.
We are excited to have the Nicholas family join our Millar family in
furthering God’s Kingdom. Please thank God with us for His provision
for the college’s staffing needs. God is good!
