It has 202 guest suites, eight restaurants and bars, four swimming pools and a private beach. The distinctive sail-shaped silhouette of Burj Al Arab is more than just a stunning hotel; it is the symbol of modern Dubai. Located in the heart of the luxury resort of the Jumeriah Madinat, the Arabian Resort of Dubai, Souk Madinat Jumeirah an authentic re-creation of an ancient marketplace with traditional Middle Eastern style and ambience is a traditional retail and dining experience showcasing the best of Arabia. Truth is, there’s no such thing as a seven-star establishment; you can’t officially go higher than five. The Burj Al Arab’s seven-star rating may be an urban myth that got out of hand, but nothing dominates the Dubai skyline and tourists’ imagination quite like it. It`s the world’s tallest hotel, and probably its least subtle — gold-leaf is applied as liberally as undercoat, there’s a fleet of white Rolls Royces on the forecourt and dancing fountains in the foyer, and fireworks launch from the bridge to announce the arrival of VVIPs (very important doesn’t cut it here) — but nobody ever travels to Dubai in search of understatement. 34 35 WEDNESDAY MAY 25TH – OPTIONAL PROGRAMME DAY ACTIVITIES: WEDNESDAY MAY 25TH – OPTIONAL PROGRAMME DAY ACTIVITIES: As we will witness, Dubai is a city of ultra-modern construction and luxury, the city still retains a wealth of sites with Old World appeal.
