The fashion angle has worked well for Jaclyn Smith, whose line at Kmart has had a much longer wingspan than her tenure on “Charlie’s Angels.” Now, adding to the ranks of such newer clothing entrepreneurs as Daisy Fuentes (Kohl’s) and Thalia Sodi (Kmart), is Jaime Pressly (right) of TV’s “My Name Is Earl,” nominated for a supporting actress Emmy tonight. See the J’aime by Jaime Pressly collection of “body-conscious” knitwear on www.jaimepressly.com. Pressly will present her spring/summer 2007 line at L.A. Fashion Week in October. THIS IS THE FACE OF EMMY The women at this year’s awards show offer a different look S NBC Female and fabulous: tonight’s actress Emmy nominees include (from top, left to right) Jean Smart, “24”; Jane Kaczmarek, “Malcolm in the Middle”; Blythe Danner, “Huff”; Allison Janney, “The West Wing”; Sandra Oh, “Grey’s Anatomy”; Ellen Burstyn, “Mrs. Harris”; Frances Conroy, “Six Feet Under”; Cloris Leachman, “Mrs. Harris”; Shirley Jones, “Hidden Places”; Candice Bergen, “Boston Legal”; Kathy Bates, “Ambulance Girl”; Alfre Woodard, “Desperate Housewives” and “The Water Is Wide”; Chandra Wilson, “Grey’s Anatomy”; Stockard Channing, “Out of Practice.” Getty Images photos he is a woman of a certain age. Or weight. Or skin color. She is this year’s female Emmy nominee and, for the most part, she looks like a real woman, not the idealized Hollywood version — young, rail thin and wrinkle-free. Looking for those babes from Wisteria Lane? Better check the basement. “Desperate Housewives” glamazons Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria and Felicity Huffman (OK, she’s pretty normal looking) were all shut out of the nominations. Instead, at tonight’s Emmy awards, Alfre Woodard will grace the red carpet as the lone housewife nominated in a major category (best supporting actress). Known more for her acting chops than her tight tank tops, Woodard isn’t the only one overshadowing her dazzling co-stars. Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh — both gorgeous in a non-Maxim-cover kinda way — were recognized for their supporting performances on “Grey’s Anatomy.” Yet Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl — Renée Zellweger and Charlize Theron look-alikes and gorgeous in a Maxim-cover kinda way — were passed over. And age is apparently the new black. In the two lead actress categories, the youngest woman nominated is 38 (Debra Messing), but everyone else is in their 40s, 50s or 60s. Across the other female acting categories, the names are as venerable as the lines on their faces: Cloris Leachman, Kathy Bates, Helen Mirren, Candice Bergen, Blythe Danner, Jean Smart, Shirley Jones. But don’t bet on an anti-babe backlash yet. Just revel in the year that Emmy got real. — MICHELE PARENTE, CURRENTS EDITOR G L I M PS ES & G L A N C ES GRACE’ PERIOD D ebra Messing endeared herself to millions of viewers on “Will & Grace,” which ended its successful run in May. She also evolved as TV’s style queen during the show’s eight seasons, frequently wearing Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera, Chanel and Prada when playing free-spirited Manhattanite Grace Adler. For award shows, she chose such designers as Kors, Elie Saab, Vera Wang (who also designed her real-life wedding dress), Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta. She earned a best actress Emmy in 2003 for “Will & Grace” and has been nominated four other times for the show, including tonight. Here’s a look at some of Messing’s Emmy fashion moments. — SUSAN SHRODER, INSTYLE EDITOR ST Y L E F I L E WHEN IN DEL MAR Y ou’ve had your pre-race margarita at Fidel’s Little Mexico in Solana Beach.
