O’-Sialon thermocouple protection tubes (TCPTs) are available in a
range of standard lengths and diameters. Their aluminium non-wetting
properties make them ideal for use in the aluminium industry. O’-Sialon
TCPTs also have high levels of resistance towards oxidation, chemical
corrosion and abrasion and have excellent thermal response properties.

SUPPLY OPTIONS
O’-Sialon TCPTs can be supplied as standard ceramic tubes, or with
a steel head and a fitted thermocouple. Contact your Pyrotek sales
engineer or technical expert for information on complete TCPT
assemblies.

O’-SIALON THERMOCOUPLE PROTECTION TUBES (TCPT)
USE AND CLEANING
• Before use, ensure the O’-Sialon TCPT is dry
• If possible, preheat the TCPT to approximately 400°C (752°F) prior to use
• The continuous maximum use temperature for the TCPT is 1300°C (2372°F)
• O’-Sialon TCPT’s can be damaged by mechanical mishandling. To prevent damage, remove the TCPT from the furnace or
crucible prior to skimming, stirring or using other tools in the metal bath. It is also important to avoid bumping or hitting
the TCPT.
• If possible, remove the TCPT when filling the crucible or furnace
• Clean the TCPT while it is still hot (immediately after it is removed from the molten metal) using a wooden or calcium
silicate tool

PINNACLE THERMOCOUPLE PROTECTION TUBES
Pyrotek’s Pinnacle thermocouple protection tubes are specially cast from
O’-Sialon around a steel pipe enforcement for added strength and
responsiveness. Pinnacle TCPTs are specifically designed for more sensitive
temperature measurement, and to perform well in foundry and other high
temperature applications where a balance of sensitivity and durability is
required. With their long service life and O’-Sialon’s non-wetting properties,
the robust, highly durable Pinnacle TCPTs are an excellent alternative to
competitive tubes in temperature measurement, maintenance and product
life.
