Dear Spellman Community:
Dear Alumni, Parents, Faculty and Friends of Spellman:
On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Cardinal Spellman High
School, and all of our students, faculty and staff, please accept
our sincere gratitude for your continuing support of our
extraordinary and important school.
As I complete my first year as President of Cardinal Spellman High School, I am humbled by the generosity and support of so many
people, in so many ways, over the past twelve months. Under the leadership of Heidi Garcia, Class of ’97, and our Advancement Team,
the school has reached new levels of fundraising success. Your participation in and support of the Annual Fund, our Calendar Drive,
Scholarship Endowments and activities, like our Gala and Golf Tournament, have helped secure a wonderful future for our school.
Through your giving we are now able to achieve technological, academic and physical plant expansions and
improvements which, when combined with our
impressive culture of faith and learning, assure the
meaningful work at Spellman to continue in earnest.
The Alumni’s generosity with our “email blast” at the beginning of the school year truly made a difference. This
emergency support for students who might have had to be turned away for financial need, not only ensured that
students were able to begin the school year, but for some seniors in need, it also meant that all students were
able to graduate with their class. We all know that everyone has been impacted by the downward spiral of
the economy and this year we greatly appreciated your numerous gifts, particularly during this “special”
fundraiser. And of course, a special “thank you” to all our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friend
and benefactors who have been so magnanimous in so many ways during these very challenging
financial times. You have all made a real difference.

The Cardinal Spellman Office of Advancement is
very grateful and appreciative to all our loyal and
dedicated donors. In an effort to recognize and
demonstrate that appreciation, threshold levels to
determine assignment to Societies and Clubs were
based on total contributions made by an individual
or organization during the fiscal year. ( July 1, 2009
to June 30, 2010).
We have the mission, the people, and the commitment needed to make certain that
Spellman will thrive in perpetuity. Consequently, investing in Spellman is an intelligent
use of your capital as well as a potentially life changing event for our students.
While our outside advisors inform us that the affinity for our school among alums,
parents and students is virtually unmatched throughout the United States and while
our students continue to perform impressively during and after their time with us, our
single greatest challenge at Spellman is financial support. It is, in fact, the only obstacle
in our way.
We are determined to be, and will become, the best co education Catholic High School
in Massachusetts. Doing so, while simultaneously remaining affordable, remains a
daunting task made possible only with your continued support.
A school like Cardinal Spellman is a special place. It’s a place where we all received the foundations for our faith, our careers and our
life-long values and made life-long friendships. Through your continued support and on-going prayers for our success, Cardinal Spellman
High School will continue to make a difference in the lives of many students and, at the same time, maintain the legacy of the Sisters of
St. Joseph.
The future of Spellman is in all of our hands.

I am also very proud of the many other positive steps we have made at Spellman this year: we have
increased the rigor in our programs through more Advanced Placement courses and professional
development; we have implemented changes in technology and implemented wireless throughout
the building; and, we have begun the first steps in major renovations in the school. We have much
to celebrate in Spellman’s past… but we also anticipate an even brighter future.

Cardinal Spellman 2009 -2010 Golf Classic
This year’s annual Golf Classic was held at Lebaron Hills Country Club in Lakeville on
June 22, 2010. This year was very different. Great weather! It was a great day in every
respect; great fun, great conversation, great people and even an occasional glimpse (very
occasional) of some great golf. Reconnecting with old friends and classmates in a relaxed
