Parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver for youth participants under the age of 18. WAIT LISTS Participants who wish to register for activities where capacity enrollment has been reached will go on a wait list and receive a confirmation receipt. Once notified of space becoming available, participants will have until the close of the next business day to register and pay fees for the class. YOUTH PARTICIPANTS Youth younger than 16 may participate in select adult DRC programs as long as they are registered and accompanied by a registered parent or legal guardian. Exceptions: Fitness Center and Adult Sports Leagues. CHILDREN ATTENDING FITNESS CLASSES Children under the age of 16 may attend fitness classes with a parent/guardian with prior authorization of the Fitness Program Coordinator. Authorization will be based upon class requirements and appropriateness of the class for requested youth. Regular adult rates apply. Childcare information is included on page 6 for children who do not meet the pre-requistes. MAKE-UPS If a program meeting is missed because of reasons beyond the control of the DRC, it will not be made up. If an individual misses a program meeting, he or she may not make up the missed class by attending a similar meeting at a different time. CHILD SAFETY PROGRAM The DRC is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all patrons, including youth who use the center and participate in programs. To ensure the safety of children, the DRC conducts background checks on all employees and any volunteer who will have direct contact with any youth. A patient swim instructor will work individually with you to improve your confidence in the water. Private lessons are subject to instructor and space availability. Some may want to use the benefits of the water to improve their fitness levels, while others may want to participate in a masters swimming program or other competitive sports, such as, triathlons or open water distance swimming. Aqua Zumba incorporates Zumba’s high-intensity dance movements with a gentle support of the water. AQUA LIGHT This course is designed to improve aerobic condition, muscle strength and tone. Our instructor will work with you to develop skills and stamina which will prepare you to participate in the more challenging classes at DRC. There is no other class like this one! TABATA WAVES Tabata is the buzz word in the fitness industry as the interval workout that will challenge you to the next level. This intense class utilizes the Tabata Fitness Protocol of 20 seconds work followed by 10 seconds rest and repeated 8 times. This workout in the water will give you that increased intensity while protecting your joints and keeping your body cooler than it would on land. Using soft and stiff slabs of clay, as well as other hand building techniques, students will learn to make boxes and other lidded forms. Be at Rock River Rapids for the Green Flag of the annual Rock River Rapids 500. This year's Superhero Summer theme will be incorporated into the car decoration contest. When the doors open styrofoam race cars will be available to purchase for $3.00 each, then head over to the 'Detail Shop' where you can decorate your car for the big race. Cars do not have to be decorated, but must be purchased before 2:00 pm to be eligible for the race. At 2:15 pm the lazy river will be cleared and will be reopened once all the cars are removed. The race will start at 2:30 pm and the cars will complete one lap around the lazy river to determine the winners. There will be several prize categories. Racers can take their cars home once the race is over. The Pooch Pool Party takes place after the humans have used the pool for the last time this swim season. Chemicals in the water are adjusted for a "different breed of swimmer." For human safety, only those 16 years and older can get in the water and only up to their thighs. We will NOT allow any children in the water. No aggressive dogs or females in heat will be allowed for the safety of other guests. All dogs must have current vaccinations including rabies.
