in double figures in scoring
with 10 points. Alison Sells
and Kennedy Prentice
followed with 5 points
each while Miranda Raney
scored 3 points. Four Lady
Mustangs added 2 points
each, including Alycia
Evans, Faith Caldwell,
Chelsea Wedlow and OkeTw’sha Roberts.
The win over Boswell
vaulted the Allen girls in
the regional championship
game on Saturday night.
“It was a good, solid
performance,” said Coach
Strong. “It was not a topnotch game but we did what
we needed to do to win. We
stayed without ourselves
and took some good shots.
The win was big because
it guaranteed we’d be
able to go on to the area
tournament no matter what
happened in the regional
finals on Saturday.”
Thankfully for Allen, the
‘mulligan’ was available.
The Lady Mustangs came
up short in the regional
finals. AHS fell 47-29 to
the Caddo Lady Bruins.
Allen led 11-10 after a
quarter of action. Caddo
then took control with
stronger showings over the
second and third quarters.
The Lady Bruins outscored
Allen 16-7 in the second
quarter to grab at 26-18
lead going into the break.
Caddo then outscored the
Lady Mustangs 15-3 in a
pivotal third stanza. The
effort built the lead to 4121 with only 8 minutes
remaining. Allen narrowly
outscored the Lady Bruins
8-6 in the fourth quarter.
The slight difference
reduced the final margin of
Allen’s loss to 18 points at
47-29.
Charlea Leonard was the
only dangerous weapon in
scoring against Caddo. The
sophmore standout poured
in a team-high 15 points.
Kennedy Prentice was next
on the team with 7 points.
Miranda Raney followed
with 3 points while Sandra
Rowsey and Alison Sells
added 2 points each.
Coach Strong was puzzled by the outcome.
“We started out playing
really well,” he said. “We
were running our offense
and doing what we needed
to be doing as far as executing our offense. But for
some reason we stopped
executing on offense and
started throwing the ball
away! We had been up 1812 and then it just got away
from us. We can’t afford
to do that the next time or
we’ll be finished.”

The next time is the Webbers Falls game at 6:30 p.m. on
Thursday. The winners will advance to 1:30 p.m. game
Friday against the winner of Roff and Arkoma. Allen has
already beaten Roff once in the playoffs, with a 42-38 on
Feb. 15 in the district finals at Roff.
“If we play Friday, it could be either Roff or Arkoma,” he
said. “There are no easy ones left. I do know that Arkoma
is a very dangerous team. I would not be surprised if they
are in the Friday game. For us, we’ll go down there looking to win three games and get to state. We’ll have to wait
and see what happens.”
