Floda31 is a laboratory for innovation and creativity. We provide an environment that fosters new connections, networks and crossdisciplinary encounters, in order to come up with sustainable design solutions. Workshops House Shed 2 Summerhouse Vegetables Shed 1 Current set-up Lots of space, ancient forest all around, a workshop full of tools, a network of creative thinkers and doers and plenty of time to play. Why here? This part of Sweden is in the last remaining wilderness of Europe. We are situated in the Taiga forest, which is the largest connected forest stretching around the Northern Hemisphere making up 27% of the world’s total forest. Why here? Being here encourages talented individuals from various disciplines to collaborate and share knowledge in order to redefine problems and create innovative solutions. Why us? Richard Holland and Marije de Haas ran a creative agency company called Bullet in London from 1998-2010. 7À`Ê*ÀiiÀi\Ê->`iÀ½ÃÊ7iÃ]Ê«ÀÊ£ä£Ó]ÊÓään >Ê`«ÌÞV º- >À`ÃÊvÊviÛiÀà ]ÊÕ«Ài`VÌ>LiÊÛiiÌÊÀVV iÌÊÌ ÀÕ} Ê7>ÞiÊVÀi}À½ÃÊ ÊV Ài}À>« ÞÊÜÌ ÊÌ iÊvÀViÊvÊ>ÊÕi>à i`ÊVÞVi»ÊÃÊ}iiÃÊ/ià ÜÜÜ°À>``>Vi°À} ÜÜÜ°Ã>`iÀÃÜiðV Why us? A curator will set a brief, a team will be invited to work on this brief. The aim of the curated residency is to generate an outcome. This outcome won’t be prescriptive but will evolve from the experience of the residency. Summer 2011: Friggebodar Curated by Johan Berglund This project is to design and build two sustainable friggebodar that can house residents at Floda31. The friggebod will serve as a sustainable prototype, and will propose new and innovative ways of designing with the climate in mind.
