Our park contains nearly 40 species including dolphins,
killer whales, sea lions, penguins and sharks, giving
you a sensational and thrilling experience!
Animal protection, more commonly known as species
conservation, is also the key message that we are trying
to promote to our visitors. The Marineland Foundation,
created in 2011, reinforces this commitment. Animals
regularly born on site also demonstrate this fundamental

Birth of a baby killer whale
On the night of 20 to 21 November 2013, Keijo, the baby killer whale, was born weighing approximately 150kg.
He represents the second generation of killer whales born on site!
Regularly and successfully carrying out the reproduction of dolphins, grey sharks, turtles, sea lions, and penguins,
the largest marine park in Europe has the pleasure of witnessing the birth of its 6th baby killer whale.
The mother Wikie was also born in Marineland in 2001 and reinforces the success in terms of reproduction
and protection of animal species.

of 90 three-star rooms and 5 suites, the Marineland Resort hotel will be
divided into 6 buildings built on stilts, each having a different animal theme.
The 6th building will include a restaurant to complete this new offer.
13 million euros investments are also
provided for: a new attraction based
on the world of turtles and a large
expansion project of the lagoon, for a

Marineland was founded in 1970 by Earl Roland de la Poype.
He had a specific project in mind when opening the park in the small French town of Antibes:
to spread his passion for the marine world to the public and
help them to discover this fascinating universe.

World
The Key Figures
With a surface area of over 25 hectares and nearly 5,000
inhabitants, today, Marineland is the European marine park #1.
As the #1 tourist attraction on the Côte d’Azur, the park has 160
fulltime employees and nearly 600 summer staff members. It
also welcomes approximately 1.3 million visitors every year.
With a rich and extraordinary wildlife heritage, Marineland holds
over 40 different animal species and is the only marine park in
continental Europe where visitors can come and see killer whales.
Dolphins and sea lions are also inhabitants that you simply cannot
miss. Killer whales and dolphins are sure to please everyone as
they perform and put on true water ballets day and night.
In 43 years, Marineland welcomed 23.5 million visitors, 12 million
over the last 10 years.

Marineland Foundation
and Species Conservation
Through its shows and activities, Marineland focuses on helping
its visitors discover the beauty of the marine world.
The park affirms its twofold role: to be fun AND educational.
•
By relaying awareness
campaigns of a health centre
for penguins in Argentina.
Over the years, Marineland has created an extraordinary
wildlife heritage, featuring a variety of marine species
coming from all over the world.
•
By becoming involved in saving
cetaceans stranded on the
Mediterranean coast.
The
FONDATION
focuses
ON 3 three
main
objectives
La Fondation d’entreprise Marineland
(Marineland’s corporate foundation) focuses on
protecting marine wildlife and its environment.
It is an ethical extension of the CRC, Centre de
Recherche pour la Conservation (conservation
research centre), created by Marineland in 1998
and bringing scientific researchers together
around marine animals. They study the biology
and ecology of marine biodiversity in a natural
environment and work with the animals of
Marineland.
• conservation:
by supporting projects on and off site
(protecting sea turtles, monk seals,
saving mangroves, etc.)
and actively taking part to them.
•
By becoming a partner of
voilier Oikos and sailor
Stephane Navarez, who will be
the sea turtle watcher in the
Mediterranean.
2014 New
commitments
This year, the Marineland
Foundation is becoming more
involved in both on and off site
conservation missions
•
By supporting the Temana o
temoana association and its
health centre for Polynesian
turtles.
•
By creating a relay health
centre for sea turtles in
Marineland park and testing
the acclimation capacity
of baby turtles in a natural
environment.
• Awareness:
by informing the public about biodiversity and
its environment in addition to participating in
off site awareness programmes such as the
SurfRider Foundation, which cleans up the
beaches off the coast every year.
• Scientific research:
with the simple objective to enhance awareness
and the mutual understanding of animals and
their natural environment in order to better
protect them. The foundation supports and
highlights these scientific research projects.
The foundation supports many projects.
Its financial, material and human resources
exclusively come from Marineland, its
founding company, and public funding.
•
By also supporting the Berenty
Reserve in Madagascar,
which is actively involved in
reintroducing lemurs to their
natural habitat.
•
Finally by joining the Polar Bears
International organisation in
the “Pole to Pole” awareness-raising
campaign on global warming.
