The Second Conference on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons will take place in
Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, Mexico, on 13 and 14 February 2014. This conference aims to deepen
understanding of the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons as a follow-up to the
discussions in Oslo in March 2013. More information on the conference is available on the
official website of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

VI. Travel Information
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, International Airport (PVA) is located 10 kilometers (approximately 10
minutes) from Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit.
We recommend participants fly straight to Mexico City, other Mexican cities or via Canada
rather than the US for visa purposes. ICAN will only book flights for sponsored participants.
The following cities in Mexico, the US and Canada have direct flights to Puerto Vallarta:

Tijuana, Toluca).
v
U.S.A. (Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Kansas
City, Lansing, Los Angeles, Memphis, Minneapolis /St. Paul, New York, Phoenix, Portland,

Airport transportation
Participants should seek their own transportation from Puerto Vallarta International Airport to the
host hotels in Nuevo Vallarta Nayarit. ICAN will assist participants requiring accessible
transportation as well as sponsored participants. Further details about transportation will be
provided in the participant guide circulated in advance of the conference.
The use of taxis authorised by the government of Jalisco is recommended from Puerto Vallarta
International Airport to Nuevo Vallarta. There are several authorised companies and their offices
are located inside the airport. The distance from the International Airport to the hotel area in
Nuevo Vallarta is approximately 10 km/6.2 miles – around 10 minute-drive. Transportation by
taxi is the easiest way of traveling. A ticket can be bought inside the Airport where the tariffs will
be shown in the front desk. A taxi from the Airport to Nuevo Vallarta costs approximately $215
5
pesos or around US$18, depending on the exchange rate.
For more information, please visit:
http://www.rivieranayarit.com.mx/tarifas_taxis_aeropuerto
Taxis from Jalisco can take passengers to hotels in Nayarit, but they cannot take passengers
from Nayarit to Jalisco. For that reason, in order to travel from Nuevo Vallarta to the Puerto
Vallarta Airport, it is recommended to take Nayarit-authorised taxis.
In Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, local white taxis can be taken outside most hotels and in coastal
towns. Their cost will depend on the number of passengers and the distance. A transportation
service by the hour can also be hired, with an approximate cost of $250 pesos. In order to travel
from Nuevo Vallarta to the Puerto Vallarta Airport, we recommend taking only Nayaritauthorised taxis.
Organisers will provide ground transportations only between the host hotels and the conference
venue.
