PRESS RELEASE
The Parker Posey Film Festival returns for
a second year, screening four phenomenal
performances across one weekend at the
Institute of Contemporary Arts, London
including the UK premiere of two episodes
from the third season of the Emmy
nominated comedy series Louie .
Broken down into two double bills, day
one sees a repeat screening (by massive
popular demand) of Party Girl , followed
by her first two appearances in FOX
comedy Louie , both set against a New
York backdrop in ‘Parker in New York’.
The screening will be followed by a party
in the ICA bar.
We screen the ‘Posey & Hartley’ double
bill on day two which sees us explore
Parker’s American indie roots in Henry
Fool and Fay Grim , with Parker playing
the same character nine years apart and
in two very different films under Hal
Hartley’s direction.
---------------------------------------------------For the last 20 years Parker Posey has
become universally renowned as a scenestealing star of American cinema and
television.
After making her feature film debut as a
power-tripping cheerleader in the cult
movie Dazed and Confused , Posey
went on to star in over 30 independent
films in the 90s.
She notably worked alongside indie
heavyweight directors Noah Baumbach,
Christopher Guest and Gregg Araki and
even made a foray into mainstream
Hollywood cinema.
One of the finest comedy actresses
working today, throughout her 20+ year
career she has never quite received the
acknowledgement that we think is certainly
due. The festival seeks not only to
celebrate, idolise and adore but also to
begin a serious discussion around her work
through a weekend of screenings.

-------------------------------------------------------The Festival began in 2012 with a series of
screenings in East London as part of the
Scala Forever season. The gala film was the
UK premiere of Party Girl where we were
joined by director Daisy von Scherler Mayer
and writer/producer Harry Birckmayer.
Parker Posey contributed screening notes
to the festival catalogue.
We return this year as part of Scalarama in
association with the Institute of
Contemporary Arts.
The festival will also be touring the 35mm
print of Party Girl throughout September.
