LCC Theatre presents MOTORTOWN
Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens’ complex
and provocative look at the human costs of war, directed by
Andy Callis. It is a powerful and challenging play, violent and
disturbing, for adult audiences only. MOTORTOWN follows
Danny upon his return from deployment in Basra to
Dagenham, England – the “motortown” of the title. Rejected
by an old flame and lured by a shady dealer, Danny is damaged
and damages in turn on a brutal road trip through a landscape
littered with class and racial animosity, consumption and
abandonment, imprisonment and escape.
The cast of LCC students and alumni give fierce and brave
performances featuring Michael Boxleitner as Danny, Heath
Sartorius as Lee (Danny’s brother), Anna Raymo as Marley
(Danny’s former girlfriend), Hunter Folleth as Tom (a gun
dealer), Todd Heywood as Paul (a dealer of other sorts),
Hannah Janelle Price as Jade (a young teen), and Jesse Frawley
and Hannah Feuka (married couple Justin and Helen).
Admission is $10 ($5 students) at the door.
Performances are 8 p.m. March 18-19 and 25-26 in the
Black Box Theatre. Immediately following the March 18th
opening performance will be a talkback with the cast, director,
and Andrew Cosgrove, LCC’s Director of Veteran and Military
Affairs, and Laura E. Swanson, LCC alumnus and MSU
graduate who is directing “Break The Chain,” a documentary
about human trafficking.
