See below! In the woods Two story Motor Home? They became interested in vintage trailer camping after Wanda wanted a little trailer to go camping. They bought a 1967 Aristocrat lo-Liner and Wanda decorated it in pink! They eventually purchased the Argosy since they wanted something with more room and more self contained. One of their ambitions is to join the local and national Airstreams group here in the Northwest. As far as future finds, they would like to find something a little older, maybe a little bigger, like a Spartan, Spartanette, Westcraft, etc. I thank Wanda & Bruce for sharing their story with us in this issue of the ROVT newsletter! 2012 ROVT Scheduled Rallies NEXT ROVT RALLY Sept 14-16, 2012 2nd South Beach Rally Newport OR. The building of a Vintage Trailer By: Larry Boehme Some progress has been made. As you can see I have completed the frame and most of the parts under the floor. The floor is 1/2" Plywood, and while it is thin it has no give in it because of the framing, also this is what the commercially made units use. This trailer is a low rider and I included a low entry with the step into it that will not require much if any outside step. Since I do not have the room to construct one complete side, I can only build the sides in 4 pieces. Standing up in the side of the shop is the left rear 12 feet showing the framing, and on the shop table is the right side getting ready to cut the port holes and putting in the framing. The walls will be insulated with one inch of rigid insulation with a R rating of 6, which is the highest I can get. The inside wall covering will be 1/8" birch plywood which I got with a saving of 5$ per sheet which is a saving of 75$ as I needed 15 sheets. On the table you can see the wheel skirt which will be removable to get the tires off. Since this trailer has two axles it requires a long skirt and I wanted its cut out to follow the opening to give it the look of an old stile trailer. The old trailers used only one axle. When completed, you will see less than half of the rear wheel. The walls are the heaviest part of the trailer as I am having to construct them using ½ “ plywood. To use anything thinner would leave me open to having a side that may not be straight. I cannot build using the modern laminated sides the new (box on wheels) trailers use. All ROVT Rallies: policy & Rules: No banners or group/club displays for other organizations you may belong too are permitted during any of Rot’s rallies! If you violate this rule, you will be asked to remove the display item and possibly be banned from future ROVT rallies. Pet rules mentioned above also apply. * Please note that if you fill out a registration form or request a site to be held for a future ROVT rally @ River Bend and fail to pay the fees within 30 days , we will void your form/request and it will be available for another member to reserve. Effective : January 2012 After the foam insulation in installed, you can see the ribs and backing wood on the wall. The insulation is one inch poly-iso with a rating of R-6. With the wood the completed wall will have an R rating between 8 and 9. The work is slow now as it is spring and I have much outside work to do. More later, Larry Boehme Remember, if you change your email address and do not notify me, your enewsletter will be undeliverable! Thanks Larry for sharing your project. We will await more pictures and progress on the building of your AIRFLOE . Awning for Sale I have an awning for a 72 boles aero non Parell. Would like $150 or best offer, I have a picture on Face book of the awning!
