This quarterly publication combines photos, ministry stories, information about parish events and activities, biographies of the pastoral team and other insightful items. 9 Our parish family responded to the tragic events of September 11, 2001 by gathering items used in the relief efforts. We also supported the relief efforts with a monetary donation of $13,041. 9 Through the generosity of those who contributed to the Capital Campaign for the new church, we were able to make arrangements for our new Baldwin Grand Piano to be delivered early. 9 In November our first Taize Prayer was held in the church. This candlelight service combines simple chants, reflective silence and prayer around the cross. We now celebrate this type of prayer fives times a year. 9 Last January our parish sent Tom Burns, director of Parish Social Ministry, to the Diocesan Mission in the Dominican Republic with a check for $1,000 to support the important work done there. 9 4,842 families are registered at Christ the King Parish. . . . Through Stewardship 9 Last year, 202 children celebrated the Sacrament of Baptism, 211 children received their First Holy Communion and 221 children were Confirmed by Msgr. John Alesandro. 9 With great joy and pride we witnessed the ordination of our pastoral year seminarian, Todd Saccoccia, to the diaconate in December and the priesthood in June. 9 Two Parish Missions were held, one in Advent and one in Lent. Many parishioners came out to hear the Word of God through the dynamic preaching and witness of Fr. Russell Becker, OFM and Dr. Elinor Ford. 9 In June, two of our parishioners, Betty and Leo Schiermbock, graduated from the Pastoral Formation Institute, a two year program of prayer and study to train lay people for ministry within the church. 9 The first meeting of our new Stewardship Committee was held last November. Members of the committee meet quarterly to help make Stewardship a way of life for our parish family. 12 Month Operations Report August 31, 2002 OPERATING REVENUE: STEWARDSHIP SUPPORT Sundays & Holydays Christmas & Easter TOTAL REGULAR SUPPORT 2001/2002 ACTUAL 2001/2002 BUDGET $874,898 $150,111 $1,025,009 $828,100 $150,000 $978,100 $17,780 $83,550 $90,123 $118,446 $1,334,908 $40,000 $64,300 $87,000 $110,800 $1,280,200 $120,724 $112,443 $85,734 $117,470 $29,116 $116,247 $581,734 $133,030 $117,400 $89,600 $132,000 $30,600 $122,000 $624,630 BUILDING & GROUNDS (Repair, maintenance, utilities & contracted services) $265,250 $253,300 ADMINISTRATIVE & HOUSEHOLD (Includes salaries & Social Security taxes for clerical staff, cook & housekeeper, food, laundry & supplies for Rectory, Pastoral Center and postage $302,555 $298,270 DIOCESAN ASSESSMENT COLLECTIONS (Includes diocesan operating assessments and Long Island Catholic) $106,171 $104,000 $32,800 $0 $1,288,510 $1,280,200 $46,398 $0 Fund Raising Parish Programs Special Donations Other-Rent/Interest Income TOTAL OPERATING REVENUE OPERATING EXPENDITURES: PARISH PROGRAMS Clergy/Religious Religious Education Parish Social Ministry Liturgy Other Programs/Activites Regional School Subsidy NEW CHURCH BUILDING PROJECT TOTAL OPERATING EXPENDITURES INCREASE IN RESERVES 2002 OPERATING EXPENSES Parish Programs 6% Fund Raising 1% Christmas & Easter 11% Special Donations 7% Other-Rent/Interest Income 9% Sundays & Holydays 66% Did you know that each of us are called to be Stewards of God’s many gifts? 2002 OPERATING EXPENDITURES New Church Building Project 3% Diocesan Assessments 8% Administrative & Household 23% Clergy/Religious 9% Religious Education 9% Parish Social Ministry 7% Liturgy 9% Other Programs/Activites 2% Building & Grounds 21% Regional School Subsidy 9% It’s Been a Very Busy Year!
