The most popular Batman Graphic Novels
Batman: The Dark Knight returns
Ten years after an aging Batman has retired,
Gotham City has sunk deeper into decadence
and lawlessness. Now, when his city needs
him most, the Dark Knight returns in a blaze
of glory. Joined by Carrie Kelly, a teenage
female Robin, Batman must take back the
streets.
Hailed as a comics masterpiece, the Dark
Knight Returns is Frank Miller’s reinvention
of Gotham’s legendary protector. It remains
one of the most influential stories ever told
in comics, and is a book cited by the
filmmakers as an inspiration for the recent
blockbuster Batman movies.
Batman: Year one
The timeless origin story of the caped
crusader. In 1986, Frank Miller and David
Mazzucchelli produced this groundbreaking
reinterpretation of the origin of Batman-who
he is, and how he came to be. Sometimes
careless and naïve, this Dark Knight is far
from the flawless vigilante he is today. In his
first year on the job, Batman feels his way in
a Gotham City far darker than when he left it.
His solemn vow to extinguish the town’s
criminal element is only half the battle; along
with Lieutenant James Gordon, the Dark
Knight must also fight a police force
more corrupt
than the scum
in the streets.
This is one of
the greatest
Batman
graphic novels
of all time.
Batman: The killing joke
Alan Moore’s unforgettable
meditation on the razor-thin line
between sanity and insanity, heroism
and villainy, comedy and tragedy.
Moore weaves together a twisted tale
of insanity and human perseverance
featuring Batman’s greatest foe, the
Joker. Looking to prove that any man
can be pushed past his breaking point
into madness, the Joker attempts to
drive Commissioner Gordon insane.
Refusing to give up even after
suffering a tremendous personal
tragedy, Gordon struggles to maintain
his sanity with the help of Batman in a
desperate effort to best the madman.
