He really enjoyed it and decided that he would like to pursue it on a professional level to see where it went. Joshua says, “One of my friends had gone to The Maile School and suggested that I should go. I registered for classes and was unsure of what to expect. I really enjoyed the program and the instructors made me feel comfortable”. After completing the program Joshua submitted his headshot and resume to the different agencies. He was signed by a few and since landed work in all aspects of the industry. He did some local indie films to build up his resume as well as back ground work such as party goer to a principal demon in a horror film. He also landed work in the film Sharknado 3 and S.O.S.: Mulheres ao Mar 2. His most recent and favorite job so far has been walking the runway as a male model for American Crew at the Premiere Orlando International Beauty Show. Joshua says, “It has really opened my eyes to how enjoyable modeling is and I will be pursuing quite a bit more in the coming months. Going to the Maile School was most important. You immediately meet professionals currently working in the industry which is a huge bonus, and everyone is super friendly”. Way to go Joshua, we wish you continued success. Congrats to kids acting grad Jack Forbes. He landed a principal role on season 2 of When Sharks Attack on Nat Geo Wild. Jack has booked local commercials and school plays, but this was his first national role. Jack just completed 5th grade at Heathrow Elementary School and will enter middle school in the fall. Television is in Jacks family as his mom, Susan, is a former TV news producer and former news director at WKMG and his dad, Donald, is a former journalist and Emmy winner. When Jack is not auditioning he of course enjoys acting, playing hockey, Boy Scouts and surfing which was perfect when he landed the role on When Sharks Attack. Jacks dad, Donald Forbes said, “His role on When Sharks Attack was a tough one because Jack plays a victim. We were excited Jack got the role, but at the same time we have the utmost sympathy for the family who actually had to endure this tragedy. It was an emotional role to play and our prayers go out to the actual family." Good job Jack. Congratulations to Maile School acting and advanced acting graduate Marcienne Dwyer. She booked the lead role in a new feature film titled Ruin Me. Her resume industry credits include the TV series Game Night, How I Met Your Mother starring Neil Patrick Harris playing the ex-girlfriend, Instacurity, Playing Hookie, and the films Dracula (2013), and Redemption (2009) to name a few. She now lives in Los Angeles and is excited to film the movie Ruin Me in Michigan. Stay tuned for the release date. Way to go Marcienne. PAGE 3 Aaliyah Nicole Barros is a recent graduate of the kids acting program here at The Maile School. She is 9 years old and attends Vista Lakes Elementary School in Orlando, where she is actively involved in the Drama Club and many other activities. She enjoys reading, riding her bike and hanging out with friends on her free time. She recently has signed with 2 local agencies and has booked print work for Harcourt Publishing and landed extra worked for Downtown Disney. Mom, Teresa says, “Aaliyah is looking forward to attending the All Star Performing Ongoing Troop classes in the fall”. We look forward to having Aaliyah back in class. Congrats to you. Acting graduate Michelle Viana recently booked a National commercial for Cheerios which is airing now. Some of her other industry credits include printwork for Sea World, Deva Curl, “Take Me Fishing” print campaign, St. Augustine Night Life, and film work for Technopolis, Rio Grande and Medium Justice. Congrats on all the success Michelle! Be on the look out for acting and modeling graduate Alexis Kritsky as she releases her new single Champagne co written and produced by the producers of The Black Eyed Peas in Los Angeles. Champagne will be available on July 3rd on iTunes and Spotify. Alexis was 17 when she won the American Idol experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios which was the drive for success as a musician and became her true passion and focus. Acting graduate Carol Bailey recently completed a major role in the play A Vote: A Voice. The play was written by Senator Geraldine Thompson and highlights the struggle for voting rights that African Americans faced in the Orlando area. She also booked a role as a grieving mother in the webseries SAINTS. Some of her other credits include SAG extra work for Home Depot, Disney, Universal and print work for Insentress and Harcourt. Carol says, “I love talking about the Maile family to those interested in the industry. The School stands behind their students and there are many opportunities for additional training and development once the course of study has been completed.” Thanks Carol and great job!
