It’s mission is to “enrich communities in fitness, education, community service, and diversity.” It’s focus is on 10 and under players with play on school and neighborhood courts in Carmel, Fishers, and Westfield. The grant will also allow HCCTA to produce the second series of its Champion Citizen books. The first series featured athletes who over came challenges, became champions and then devoted their lives to helping others: Arthur Ashe, James Blake, Billie Jean King, Gale Sayers, and George Taliaferro. The second series will feature special needs athletes. Like the first series, the second series will also be written by local high school tennis players.
