Charlotte Grejtak, LSW, Facilitator RUMMAGE SALE & BAKE SALE Henry County Christmas Cheer All proceeds go to provide programs and events for senior citizens in Henry County. The annual campaign by the Henry County Ministerial Association for the collection of food for the low income and needy persons in Henry County has begun. The Basics of Home Care During November the Christmas Cheer Peg Dammann, R.N. committee is collecting the following As parents, we take great care when making decisions that affect the well-being of our children. And, as we grow older, it is common for these roles to be reversed. Now, as grown children, we face circumstances that require us to make decisions concerning the care of our loved ones. In both scenarios – the ability to access accurate and timely information can positively impact the outcome. At the Henry County Home Health Agency, we frequently work with families facing similar situations, those who are forced to become overnight experts on our healthcare system. It is during this time that most discover the benefits associated with home care services. From a purely financial standpoint, home care equals good dollars and sense. Many patients, and their families, find this option to be an affordable and effective step along the continuum of care. Home care offers patients increased independence and the ability to receive medical treatment and other services in the comfort of their own home – all at a significant savings when compared to comparable treatment at a long-term care facility. commercially canned/jarred items: Canned Vegetables, Fruits, Soup, Meats Macaroni and Cheese Mixes, Spaghetti Sauces, Tomato Juice, Broths, Noodles, Potato Mixes, Stuffing Mixes, Syrups, Crackers, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Pudding, Jello, Cake Mixes, Frostings, Cofee, Tea, Kool-aid, Chocolate Drink Mixes, Toilet Tissue, Facial Tissue, Paper Towels, Bar Soap, Toothpaste, Shampoo PLEASE! Your generosity funds many important programs. Your contribution makes a real difference in the quality of life for local seniors. There are many ways to make a donation to the Senior Center. 1. You may make an unrestricted gift: These contributions allow the Senior Center to use your donation where it is needed most. Unrestricted gifts allow us to continually enhance our programs. 2. You may make a designated or restricted gift: These contributions can be designated by the donor for a particular Senior Center program like RIDES or MEALS. 3. In honor or memory of a special person in your life in the form of a restricted or unrestricted donation. 4. Make A Charitable Bequest: We welcome a charitable bequest provision in which you designate the Senior Center in your Last Will and Testament or Trust Agreement. Planned giving is the process through which donors leave a charitable bequest through their will or other method of estate planning to a favorite cause. Sometimes charitable bequests on behalf of an estate can work to the benefit of the estate as primary beneficiaries courtesy of the current tax laws and is a wonderful way to provide a pre-planned gift. You should consult with your tax advisor or financial planner or a CPA to thoroughly understand all the details, but a wealth of information about the process is contained at the following web site: www.leavealegacy.org If you are interested in leaving a planned gift through your estate, know that the Senior Center accepts gifts in the form of legacies. Billy Graham tells of a time early in his career when he arrived in a small town to preach a sermon. Wanting to mail a letter, he asked a young boy where the post office was. When the boy told him, Rev. Graham thanked him and said, “If you’ll come to the Baptist church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to Heaven.” “I don’t think I’ll be there,” the boy said. “You don’t even know your way to the post office.” To serve you better, Charlotte Grejtak, HCSC Social Worker, will begin scheduling regular office hours at the Deshler Satellite (Immanuel Lutheran Church). Charlotte will be available on the following days: • THURSDAY, November 12, 9am—11am • TUESDAY, November 24, 9am– 11am Ask Charlotte!!
