I won’t keep you long this week, as I know we’re all rushing off to enjoy this beautiful
Fourth of July weekend.
We got excellent news for women (and men) across the Granite State this week as
the Executive Council voted to reinstate funding for Planned Parenthood. PP
provides invaluable health support services for thousands in this state, and I’m glad
to see New Hampshire will no longer be a place where women’s health is degraded
or marginalized for political gain. I’d like to thank all of our Democratic officeholders,
especially our excellent Executive Councilors Chris Pappas and Colin Van Ostern,
for always standing by Planned Parenthood as an organization, not just when
politically convenient.
Last weekend, we had our State Committee meeting at our new coordinated
campaign office in Portsmouth (#NHTogether). We heard from our staff, state
senators, and coordinated campaign director John Bisognano on all the great work
we’re doing this summer heading into the general election season. Afterwards many
of us from the NHDP marched in Seacoast Outright’s Pride Parade. It was a great
way to close out Pride month on our beautiful seacoast!
Finally I want to thank you for everything you do not just for this Party, but for this
country. Our democracy is stronger thanks to all of you. I wish you, your family, and
your friends a safe and happy holiday!

Senate Candidate of the Week: Rep. Martha Hennessey
Meet Rep. Martha Hennessey of Hanover, running to represent the people of
District 5 in the Senate! Rep. Hennessey grew up in Hanover and returned in
2001 with her husband and three children, moving into the house she grew up
in as a child. Martha has been a 4th grade teacher, school psychologist, school
administrator, psychotherapist, personal and professional coach, a college
professor, a small business owner, and a member of the NH House of
