Preemie for a Day
(2 4-hour workshops per day)
This popular, interactive, multi-sensory training program
contrasts the experience of an infant in a traditional NICU
environment to that of an infant in a developmentally
supportive NICU. The practice areas addressed are
feeding, admission and transport, family and staff
communication, and positioning.
Yellow Brick Road: Supporting the Hospitalized
Infant and Family through Their Journey
(7-hour program)
Participants are presented with a holistic view of the
NICU experience, contrasting expectation with reality and
enabling the clinician to understand the challenges faced by
the critically-ill infant and grieving family. Staff is reminded
of the intimate inseparability of the infant and family and
gain insight into how they may better support the family
through the NICU experience.
Cue-Based Feeding: Implications for
Clinical Practice
(8-hour program)
Cue-Based Feeding is an innovative and comprehensive
feeding program aimed at individualizing the feeding
experience for infants in the NICU. This program
introduces the learner to the social context of the feeding
experience and the long-term sequela to disrupted
infant feeding development. Program content includes an
introduction to the basics of feeding physiology, feeding
skill development, and practical tips to ensure family
participation and success. There is also a four-hour
workshop option that touches on the basics of feeding with
an emphasis on appropriate feeding equipment.
The Looking Glass: Reflections on Culturally
Responsive Care
(4-hour program)
Every NICU is different. The Looking Glass presents a
view of cultural study that transcends ethnicity and invites
participants to reflect upon their own unique background
and how it affects their daily attitudes, perceptions,
judgments and interactions. This program emphasizes the
importance of clear and consistent bedside communication,
an openness to new relationships and an appreciation of
how diverse backgrounds enrich staff relationships and
parent experiences in the NICU.

Philips Children’s Medical Ventures
Touch: The Art and Science of Infant Handling
(8-hour program)
Evidence-based research on the effects of touch on the
developing infant is the preface for this full-day program.
Practical bedside strategies aimed at minimizing negative
tactile experiences for the critically-ill infant and creating
opportunities for positive tactile experiences underpin the
course content. The Touch program provides clinical staff
with a unique and crucial perspective of the impact of care
handling on the critically-ill infant and how positive touch
helps build parent competence. Opportunities for staff to
create meaningful parent-infant interactions by utilizing
touch are discussed and problem-solved throughout the day.
Family Attachment through Touch
(4-hour program)
Families of hospitalized infants experience a physical and
emotional separation. The staff’s understanding of the
unique needs of families can lessen their stress and create
ways to foster meaningful parental interactions during
the hospital stay. This program focuses on practical ways
to encourage parental involvement, for example, through
kangaroo care, in their infant’s hospital experience.
Infant Waveform Analysis
(2-day program)
Infant Waveform Analysis focuses on multi-channel
continuous waveform recording for inpatient diagnostic
use as well as trend-event monitoring for the home
care infant. Two, one-day programs include small group
discussions, problem-solving and hands-on experience
with event monitoring software (Synergy-E) and
continuous multi-channel software (Sleepware) to
enhance participants’ confidence and competence.
Wee Focus
Wee Focus is a 4- to 6-month, rapid-cycle, process
improvement program blending interactive education,
best practices associated with The Universe of
Developmental Care model and reliability science
principles for measured results. In an effort to
benchmark clinical practice and process improvement,
nine evidence-based best practices have been identified
to frame practice change. These general categories
include respiratory, monitoring/assessment, feeding,
positioning, infection control, safety, comfort,
thermoregulation, and skin care. Designing dependable
processes around an acknowledged standard of care
will ensure consistency in practice and the knowledge
that the standard of care is being delivered at the
bedside. Each Wee Focus program will include
a personalized self-assessment, an educational
component, a strategy/planning meeting and follow-up
visits to ensure success.
Global CAR 2 E (Clinical application of research,
reliability and education)
The Global CAR 2E program is a 9- to 12-month process
improvement program focused on two best practice goals
from the Core Measures of Developmentally Supportive
Care. Program activities include a pre- and post-program
site evaluation, a full-day program for all staff repeated
over consecutive days, ancillary staff workshops, a strategic
workshop for the developmental care committee to
operationalize the two goals, and three clinical follow-up
visits. Progress updates are also coordinated with the NICU
leadership team to facilitate goal attainment and provide
resources and guidance as needed in order to achieve
results.
Wee Care
Wee Care is a comprehensive 12- to 18-month process
improvement program designed to establish developmental
care as the standard of care practice in the NICU. Course
content corresponds to evidence-based best practices and
is aimed at hospital-selected leadership and practice goals.
Program processes include a pre- and post-program site
evaluation, leadership planning sessions, medical grand
rounds, on-site education of the entire staff over a 3- to
5-day period, on-site ancillary staff workshops, in-unit
consultation time, clinical and managerial follow-up visits,
assistance with research and publication, as well as progress
updates. This results-oriented approach ensures that the
desired practice change is acculturated and integrated
throughout care practices, performance appraisals and unit
policies and procedures.

Bendy Bumper Family
The bendable positioning aid
The Bendy Bumper and the B3 Better Bendy Bumper are
bendable positioning aids that stay in place until reshaped
by the caregiver. They can be molded into the desired
shape by the caregiver to promote containment and to
provide a reflex stimulus for extremity extension and
subsequent flexion recoil. This unique molding capability is
due to a safe, hermetically-sealed lead rod in the center of
a thick, spongy foam body.
For the Baby Bendy, the Bendy and the Super Bendy, the
hermetically-sealed rod can be removed from the foam
body enabling the rod to be cleaned and reused for multiple
patients. The foam body is single patient use only. Two
types of covers are available: washable cloth covers for
multiple patient use and disposable covers for single
patient use.
The Bendy Bumper is available in three sizes:
• The Baby Bendy is specially designed for infants
< 1200 grams.
• The Bendy Bumper is designed for infants > 1200 grams
and is appropriate for all preterm and term infants.
• The Super Bendy is designed for infants > 1800 grams.
The sturdier rod is perfect for positioning multiples,
larger infants and pediatric patients.
The B3 Better Bendy Bumper is a completely reusable
version of the Bendy Bumpers described above.
Designed with the same patented lead rod structure,
the B3 is enclosed with a permanent, wipeable urethane
(Dermaplush) cover. The washable urethane cover makes
the entire B3 reusable for multiple patients.

IncuCover
Light-shielding incubator covers
IncuCovers provide babies with a darkened, protective
environment. The heart-print, heavy-duty fabric blocks
out light and the neutral-colored underside allows accurate
evaluation of skin color and perfusion. The cover is fully
adjustable to provide visual accessibility to the baby
while allowing the simulation of day/night patterns. A
3/4-length cover fully covers the incubator except for the
front piece with the portholes. The full-length cover has
two long front flaps which can be drawn to create a dark
environment or placed on top of the incubator during
procedures for accessibility and viewing of the baby.

SnuggleUp
Supports developmental positioning goals
The SnuggleUp is a soft, cozy nest that helps to provide
proper positioning and physiological stability for preterm
and ill babies. The padded footroll and the soft, adjustable
straps allow movement while gently maintaining appropriate
positioning and flexion. Once comfortably nested in the
SnuggleUp, the baby can be weighed, moved, examined or
transported with minimal stress and disruption.
SnuggleUps are made from a soft, washable cotton/
polyester interlock knit that can be washed and reused.
Disposable SnuggleUps are made from a very soft, nonwoven, non-flammable polyester material that can be used
during admissions, procedures, transport or when laundry
facilities are not available.
Disposable SnuggleUps, indicated with “VEL” at the end
of the item number, have wraps that adjust with hook and
loop closures on both sides to keep arms and legs safely
positioned and/or out of the way during admission or
procedures.

Squishon 2 and 3
Versatile gel-filled
cushions
Squishon cushions
provide a soft, pliable
surface to support and cradle
a baby’s head and/or body. The
rectangular shape allows for head movement
while maintaining a surface support. To create a prone
roll or a fuller pillow, the caregiver can push the gel
in the Squishon 2 or 3 to one side and fold the empty
part of the bag underneath, taping in place. Squishon
products are made from a soft, breathable material and
are filled with a non-toxic gel.
Squishon 2 has an extremely soft surface and is designed
to support the extremely low birth weight infant.
Squishon 3 is designed for older preemies and babies
with more resilient skin. It has a slightly thicker outer
bag that reduces evaporative loss and increases usage of
the product.

AAP recommends pacifiers for babies
up to one year old
A meta-analysis published in late 2005 by the American
Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) shows that infants who use
a pacifier are at decreased risk for SIDS. Based on these
findings, the AAP recommends that babies up to one year of
age suck on a pacifier during all sleep periods. Research has
also shown that non-nutritive sucking has many benefits for
preterm infants including a shorter hospital stay and better
success at breast and bottle feeding. The AAP recommends
that nursing babies begin using a pacifier once the baby is
nursing successfully, usually around one month of age.
Wee Soothie
For babies 30-34 weeks gestation
For hospital use only
The Wee Soothie is designed to provide a superior fit
for growing preemies or smaller term babies during their
hospital stay. The notched area allows space for tubing
from CPAP, mechanical ventilation or tube feeding. Its
one-piece construction meets stringent AAP guidelines.
Most babies will transition to the Soothie once they are
successfully breast or bottle feeding. The Wee Soothie
is available in natural or vanilla scent and is latex, DEHP
and BPA free.
Wee Thumbie
For babies <30 weeks gestation
For hospital use only
The Wee Thumbie is the first pacifier
designed specifically for use by very low birth weight
babies. Modeled after the size and shape of the preemie
thumb, this pacifier facilitates the important sucking
behaviors normally learned in utero. Its uniquely-shaped
nipple helps to keep the pacifier in the baby’s mouth and
its smaller-sized perioral guard keeps the pacifier centered
and allows space for oral and nasal tubing. Once the baby
is breast or bottle feeding, he or she should transition to
the Wee Soothie, NICU Soothie, or Soothie pacifier. Wee
Thumbie is latex and DEHP free.
NICU Soothie
For babies >34 weeks gestation
For hospital use only
The NICU Soothie is a premium pacifier designed
for newborns and babies without teeth who are
successfully breast or bottle feeding. The notched
area allows space for tubing from CPAP, mechanical
ventilation or tube feeding. Its one-piece construction
adheres to AAP guidelines. Baby should be transitioned
to the Soothie prior to discharge. The NICU Soothie is
available in natural or vanilla scent and is latex,
DEHP and BPA free.

Tiny Tub
Developmental bathing system
The Tiny Tub developmental bathing system provides
parents and caregivers with a safe and effective way
to bathe small babies. This system enables swaddled
bathing which maintains the baby in a flexed, midline, and
supported position resulting in decreased physiological
and motor stress for the infant. Swaddled bathing not only
benefits the infant, but it also helps to build the parents’
confidence in handling their baby to facilitate a pleasant
parenting experience during the swaddled bath.
The Tiny Tub and the Tiny Tub Deluxe have a mesh
bathing support that cradles the baby and provides a
slight elevation to keep baby’s head out of the water.
The swaddle cloth is a triangular piece of soft fabric
with a deep pocket that provides a safe and secure
way to provide a swaddled bath.
Both the Tiny Tub and the Tiny Tub Deluxe come with
a thermometer strip, a step-by-step pictorial guide to
developmental bathing, pH-neutral body wash for sensitive
skin, and a swaddle cloth. The Tiny Tub Deluxe also includes
a comb and brush.

Sali-Wipes
Sterile saline wipes
Sali-Wipes sterile saline (isotonic) wipes come in
convenient foil packs to make skin cleansing as easy as
using alcohol wipes, but without the strong odor. Research
shows alcohol wipes can be damaging to fragile infant skin
and may be absorbed into the bloodstream. In response
to these potential problems, nursing organizations are
now recommending the use of sterile isotonic saline or
sterile water to cleanse skin after disinfection and prior
to invasive procedures. Other uses include cord care,
diapering and adhesive removal.

SmartMonitor 2 PS Light
Multi-parameter monitoring made easy
The SmartMonitor 2 PS is the most powerful in our series
of patient monitors. It can be used in the hospital or the
home and is cleared for infant, pediatric and adult use.
Using two-channel pneumograph capability and diagnostic
quality waveforms that can be viewed using Synergy-E
software, it provides detailed information regarding a
patient’s heart rate, respiration and oxygen saturation.
For newborn infants, it is ideal for use during car seat
testing prior to discharge.
•Superior waveform quality
•4 MB of memory provides up to 15 hours
of portable operation
•Universal symbol interface
•Durable metal patient connector
•Hospital or homecare selectable settings
SmartMonitor 2 Professional Series Light (PSL) is
designed for heart rate, respiration monitoring and
event recording in a variety of settings. Based on the
same high-quality monitoring technology as the PS, PSL
provides cost-effective heart and respiration monitoring
parameters without integrated pulse oximetry. It is ideal
for use in combination or integration with a facility’s
existing oximeter technology, providing cost savings and
maintenance of a homogeneous product mix.
