Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord
YÜÉÅ à{x Wxá~ Éy à{x ctáàÉÜ
“Exult, let them exult, the hosts of heaven, exult, let Angel ministers of God exult, let the
trumpet of salvation sound aloud our mighty King's triumph! Be glad, let earth be glad,
as glory floods her, ablaze with light from her eternal King, let all corners of the earth be
glad, knowing an end to gloom and darkness. Rejoice, let Mother Church also rejoice,
arrayed with the lightning of his glory, let this holy building shake with joy, filled with the
mighty voices of the peoples. It is truly right and just, with ardent love of mind and heart
and with devoted service of our voice, to acclaim our God invisible, the almighty Father,
and Jesus Christ, our Lord, his Son, his Only Begotten. Who for our sake paid Adam's
debt to the eternal Father, and, pouring out his own dear Blood, wiped clean the record of
our ancient sinfulness. These, then, are the feasts of Passover, in which is slain the Lamb, the one true Lamb,
whose Blood anoints the doorposts of believers. This is the night, when once you led our forebears, Israel's children, from slavery in Egypt and made them pass dry-shod through the Red Sea. This is the night that with a pillar
of fire banished the darkness of sin. This is the night that even now throughout the world, sets Christian believers
apart from worldly vices and from the gloom of sin, leading them to grace and joining them to his holy ones. This
is the night when Christ broke the prison-bars of death and rose victorious from the underworld. Our birth would
have been no gain, had we not been redeemed …” And, the wondrous proclamation of the Resurrection (The
“Exultet”) continues to announce the powerful joy of the truth: that Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah Son of God, has
ended the darkness of death, and has brought forth the Glory of the Light of New Life!! Happy Easter to you All!
May we not celebrate Easter just as a singular glorious event of 2,000 years ago. But, may we celebrate the truth
that, one day, we all may join the Risen Christ in the Kingdom of His Father forever!
For all of you who may be reading this after Easter Mass … And have not had the chance to be with us
here at St. Jude’s for some time … please know that you are ALWAYS welcome here! It doesn’t matter who you
are … what is in your past … what may be going on in your present … always know that we are all on this journey
to new life together! All of us come into the presence of God with our own issues and baggage, all of our joys and
successes, all of our deepest sorrows and mistakes. All of us come here into the sacredness of this Church, open to
what the Lord wants from us, and for us. May we all bring our hearts, minds, souls, joys, sorrow, mistakes, successes … leave them at the foot of the cross … allow ourselves to be welcomed into the arms of the Risen Jesus,
and help each other on this road to the Kingdom. My friends, we are all in this together – no matter who we are, or
what we have done. It makes the journey a lot easier, knowing that we are not alone!
Thank you to everyone who has made Holy Week so powerful and special: everyone in Music Ministry …
all of our liturgical ministers … the parish staff … and all who have come to pray with us. These have been very
grace-filled days. And, without everyone’s help, it may not have been as wonderful as they have been.
It took us a while, but we are now going to be offering both species of the Eucharist at all the weekend
Masses, and at all of the communion positions in the Church. When we renovated the Church last year, we removed four pews across the middle, where the aisle in, allowing that aisle to be considerably wider. Now, we are
able to put Eucharistic Ministers with the Precious Blood there. And, since several dozen people have answered
our invitation to enter into the Eucharistic Ministry, we are now able to offer the Precious Blood at the 7:30 a.m. &
Noon Sunday Masses. (I could never figure out why we were not doing that!) It made no sense to me to deprive
the several hundred faithful at those two Masses from receiving Eucharist under both forms, when most parishes
have been doing it at every Mass since the late ‘70’s!) Our Eucharistic Ministers have been trained, and the more
seasoned ones re-trained, so everyone now knows what to do. Be patient, please, as we fine-tune our process,
which will begin next weekend. They are trained in how to clean the cup after the person in front receives. And,
know that there is enough alcohol content in the wine to kill any germs anyway. In 2,000 years, there has never
been a single reported case of disease received from the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ! It is very important, I
believe, to receive the Eucharist under both forms, for they are both equal in significance. At any Mass, the Body
of Christ is as important and significant as the Blood of Christ, as intended by Jesus Himself. “The one who eats
my flesh and drinks my blood has life eternal, and I will raise them up on the last day.”
Congratulations to the newly baptized and confirmed! Welcome to the family of St. Jude the Apostle
Parish! Have a very holy Easter Season!

Since lately we have heard about ashes – I think you will enjoy
hearing and having questions for our speaker in April. We will be
brought up to date on pre-arrangements, cremation, and standard
funerals. I imagine some of us have already pre-planned our arrangements, but we might have missed something like readings, songs and
burial requirements.
Come join us on April 9, 2015 at Perkins
for the 11:30am presentation.
Looking ahead a gentleman from Social Security will be joining on June 11.
So mark the dates, Thursday, April 9 and Thursday, June 11.
