MidCoast programs increase traffic in our metropolitan centers, enhance our community’s valuation of our downtowns and foster arts and culture as an effective tool for urban revitalization projects. MidCoast programs enhance the urban streetscape with streetlevel events, public art and gallery programming. MidCoast promotes the Quad Cities as an arts destination and adds cultural equity to our community’s gateways and tourist destinations. The MidCoast organization celebrates the Quad Cities as a community that values the arts and offers a high quality of life for families and the creative class. MidCoast Fine Arts programs are partially supported by operational grants from the Illinois Arts Council and the Iowa Arts Council. PROUD MEMBER MIDCOAST SERVES OUR COMMUNITY WITH QUALITY ART EVENTS MidCoast Fine Arts orchestrates and partners in over 25 community arts events annually, including youth art events, arts & urban renewal celebrations in our downtowns, an art festival, monthly artist reception events at our galleries, and “Final Friday” events at Bucktown Center for the Arts. Events include workshops, lectures, classes, and other educational offerings at the Bucktown Center for the Arts as well as in conjunction with area events offered by other community partners. MidCoast Fine Arts offers engaging youth arts activities in the always popular Children’s Tent at MidCoast’s Riverssance Festival of Fine Arts. MIDCOAST AT BUCKTOWN DOWNTOWN ARTS CORRIDOR DAVENPORT, IA MidCoast at Bucktown is leading the way in a 32,000 square foot working arts hub. Ever-changing eclectic displays feature multiple artists. ANNUAL EXPOSURE: Est. 15,000 visitors ANNUAL EVENTS: More than 18 events are held at the Bucktown Center for the Arts, most are catered events featuring live music. STUDENT EXPERIENCES & INTERNSHIPS Our annual youth arts festival, ArtWorks Expo, offers realworld experiences and career exploration for students interested in pursuing a life in the arts. In addition to the pastel competition and exhibition which is the heart of the ArtWorks Expo, student internship opportunities connect high school artists with a variety of experiences in the arts through the Bucktown Center and our arts partners throughout the community. And, for college students and emerging artists, gallery exhibition at one of MidCoast’s many venues throughout the community provide a critical opportunity for creative and professional growth. IN-SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS MidCoast Fine Arts works with regional community school districts in the orchestration of Artists as Educators. A five-year partnership with Davenport Community School District’s Lincoln Academy of Integrated Arts is one example. Through this program, the students are introduced to art as a problemsolving process, yielding creative rewards designed to inspire and motivate all aspects of learning. MIDCOAST GALLERY WEST THE ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT ROCK ISLAND, IL MidCoast Gallery West, launched in 2002, is the centerpiece of Rock Island’s “working arts center.” Partners include the ARTery Gallery and the Development Association of Rock Island. The gallery features tow artists bi-monthly with over 30 local artists exhibiting and 12 monthly events in partnership with the ARTery. ANNUAL EXPOSURE: Est. 15,000 visitors ANNUAL EVENTS: Six artist receptions plus Gallery Hop! and District events MIDCOAST AT THE RIVERCENTER DOWNTOWN ARTS CORRIDOR DAVENPORT, IA The RiverCenter is Davenport’s premiere exhibition, event, and meeting center. MidCoast orchestrates the rotating presentation of featured artists’ work in the high-traffic first floor window gallery that connects with the Adler Theatre. ANNUAL EXPOSURE: Est. 175,000 viewers MIDCOAST AT CENTRE STATION JOHN DEERE COMMONS MOLINE, IL MidCoast at Centre Station is located in MetroLink’s ground transportation hub. Since 1999, MidCoast has featured tow artists with a bi-monthly rotation of display cases and kiosks.
