senior class Valedictorian Ali
Anderson and Salutatorian Genna Hollis were honored at the
April meeting of Schley County
Family Connection Collaborative.
Anderson has decided to attend the University of Georgia
but is undecided about her major. She said that it would be
in either medicine or science.
This summer she will work as
a counselor at Camp Woodmont
atop Lookout Mountain. Ali’s
grade average was 4.0.

Class of ‘03
plans to
have reunion
The Tri-County High School
Class of 2003 announces plans
for their upcoming 10-year reunion to be held June 8-9. The
events will take place in Plains
and Americus. Further details
will be released as plans progress but the Reunion Committee urges classmates to save the
date and make plans to attend.

Western Reserve University in
Cleveland, Ohio, and study anthropology with a minor in archeology. She said that solving
the mysteries of the past would
help with the problems of the
present. Geena’s grade point average was 3.9.
Superintendent Larry Stubbs
remarked that the criteria for
Valedictorian and Salutatorian
includes ‘quality’ points for taking classes that were challenging, so that students could not
just maintain the highest grade
average by taking only general
courses. He stressed that the selections were determined by the
records of all four of the high
school years.
Principal Rusty Tondee added
that Anderson and Hollis had
been friends and that they had
challenged each other throughout their high school years. He
said that they were both great in
every sense.
Elaine Gillispie, Field Representative from the office of U.S.
Representative Sanford Bishop,
said that students were 40% of
our population but 100% of our
future. She presented both girls
with Certificates of Congratulation of their accomplishments.

MCHS Performance Academy
selling tickets for its first
big ‘Season Finale’ Show
The Marion County High
School Performance Academy
is busy rehearsing for its Season Finale Show, which will be
open to the public on Saturday,
May 11 at 4 p.m. in the auditorium of the former Marion Middle School on Burkhalter Street
in Buena Vista.
This is a major production that
much work has gone into. Attendance is expected to be high
and seating is limited to 450
people, so it would be a good
idea to order tickets in advance.
The show will be the academy’s major production of the
year and will feature music of
the 50s, from teen idols to Mo-

Budget Hearing on May 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the 2013/2014
proposed budget. The meeting is open to the public.

Rabies Vaccinations to be
offered in Marion County
One of the classic Walt Disney
movies was “Old Yeller.” It was
a great movie, but it was really
sad when the hero of the movie,
that big intelligent, fierce, loving “yeller” blackmouth cur dog
had to be destroyed because he
had contracted rabies after having fought off a rabid
wolf that was attacking the family.
This disease is still
a very real and serious threat to pets,
domestic livestock,
wild animals and
yes, even humans. Preventative
vaccinations are the best option
we have to protect our families
and pets from the ravages of this
life threatening disease.
To help protect your cats and
dogs, the Marion County 4-H
Club and Dr. Rudy Killingsworth will be holding a rabies
vaccination clinic on Saturday,
May 4 at several different locations in Marion County. The

tablespoons of salt. If you
