With God’s help, we’ve made it through another school year for which we are grateful! It has not been a year without its challenges, especially with so many new immigrant children who still struggle with the language, but each day we get to witness stronger and deeper roots as these students become more and more a part of the school, Israel and the culture. If you read the parents’ testimonies, you see just what Makor HaTikvah has meant to these families, and we praise God for the opportunity of working with these children. Now our biggest challenge is before us – the summer months. Your financial gift, at this time, will help to ensure that our teachers are paid in July and August when we have no incoming tuition. We are so appreciative of all you’ve done for our school during this past year, and your investment into these children is so worthwhile! Thanks again for sowing into their lives. Our next newsletter will be in August. Have a blessed summer. With gratitude and blessings, Cookie Schwaeber-Issan Managing Director, Makor HaTikvah Messianic Hebrew School Along with all of our staff ISRAELI HI-TECH LOOKS TO RECRUIT FEMALE STUDENTS INTO THEIR RANKS The well-known Cisco hi-tech company in Israel extended an invitation to the female students at a number of Israeli schools and so our own Makor HaTikvah girls attended in order to take part on May 19th, in a global effort to recruit girls into hi-tech careers. This coincided with the International Girls Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Day, coordinated along with ITU (International Telecommunications Union), the media group of the U.N. Our students arrived at the Cisco headquarters, located in Jerusalem, and the event was geared to girls age 13-18. From our own school, the girls who took part were from 7th and 8th grades. The students were introduced to many areas within the hi-tech sector and also heard from women in the field who are engineers as well as those who held other hi-tech careers. In fact, our students were also able to receive instruction and view certain types of industrial technological roles available to today’s women. It was truly an eye-opener for our MHT girls to listen to how Cisco has impacted the area of media and technology in changing markets. It was also a great opportunity for our girls to consider a hi-tech future with a company such as Cisco. Makor HaTikvah teachers have come along side us as parents, and truly are a partner in their support for our children. We are thankful that this school provides a safe and God-centered environment where our kids can acclimate to the culture and language and develop healthy friendships. Thank you Makor HaTikvah! B. and L. We want to thank you all for welcoming our family into the Makor HaTikvah clan. As new immigrants, we were met with a staff who understands that Messianic Believers need to stick together and help one another. We felt welcomed and encouraged to plug in immediately with teachers, parents nights and school activities. The ulpan class for immigrant students was a very important piece of helping us transition. As our relationships in the Body of Messiah grew this past year, it was refreshing to see how many different Messianic Congregations are represented at the school, allowing for our children to meet and connect with a broad group of new friends. Thank you for what you all are doing for the Body of Messiah in Jerusalem. Makor HaTikvah is an important piece of the fabric of the Messianic Body here in the Israel. C & B We arrived in Israel about 3 months ago. We had many concerns for our 13 year-old daughter and her acclimation to the school and to Israel on a whole. We enrolled her to Makor HaTikvah and prayed for God’s blessing on her. We were relieved to see how well she was received by schoolmates, the teachers and the school administration. There is an atmosphere of love and acceptance from everyone in the school, and professional help is available from teachers when the need arises. We have found the teachers and staff determined to uphold the highest professional standards from the Israeli Ministry of Education and to be working hard for the students to integrate well into other Israeli schools, and even to prepare them for the army. Our call to Israel has been strengthened by the school. Our biggest prayer as we moved to Israel was for the well-being of our daughter. We can see that she is growing as a student and as a believer and integrating well into Israeli society. She is gaining confidence in herself. For us, Makor HaTikvah has been a great blessing and an answer to prayer. L & R F. WAYS YOU CAN HELP! Without your continued help with these special funds and projects we would not be able to meet the needs of our students. SUMMER SALARIES July and August have always been the most financially challenging months for MHT since there are no tuition payments and so many people are off on vacation. If you would like to help us make sure our teachers get paid over these summer months, please designate your gift for that purpose. Cultural Development Fund (School Trips) We need help supplementing transportation for field trips. An average bus charge is anywhere from 600 NIS (within Jerusalem) and as expensive as 2,000 NIS (for long distances). Parents already pay for the trips, but adding the bus fare would make many trips prohibitive. If you’d like to sponsor the transportation for one trip, please designate your gift for that purpose. Project EnLarge Our Tent God is growing our school, so this is the time to enlarge our tent. More immigrant and local students are beginning to enroll for the next school year. We have a third floor attic space, the full length of the building which can be developed and utilized, giving us more classroom space all for the price of $110,000. Will you invest in the future of Makor HaTikvah so we can begin this project by Passover? Help us train up Israeli Messianic children - the future generation of Israel. MAKOR MAILBAG FROM AROUND THE GLOBE Thank you so much for yet another very interesting newsletter; was especially blessed to hear that the students are praying for healing for those in need of a physical touch from Yeshua. The testimony of the mother is especially moving and I do trust and pray that her husband will make a full recovery. How we could do with some Makor HaTikvah schools in the UK!! Sadly many of our schools do not even have the Bible taught to the children! My congratulations to those who ran in the Marathon; a great achievement! May they all keep ‘running the race’ for Yeshua and fix their eyes upon Him for each days’ journey. Grace P., UK Thank you for sharing the newsletter. We find it interesting and important to know for prayers and support. God bless you and everyone at Makor HaTikvah. Helena and Tapani S., Finland Thanks for your email and newsletter. Will pray for the continual blessing of God on your school. “According to your faith let it be done to you.” May the Lord do abundantly more than we can even imagine! Janet W., U.K. Many thanks for the newsletter again! It is always so interesting to read the news of your school! Let´s pray that more supporters will come along! Irma H., Finland I was thrilled to read about the ulpan classes and especially for the parents. You will provide a great need as one who supports an aliyah ministry. I pray that God will meet all your needs in Messiah Yeshua as He has done in the past. Cath T., U.K. Thank you for your newsletter. Always nice to hear from you and about your school. Christina F., Portugal. NEW POSTING! Don’t miss our new posting, “The Importance of Teaching Manners to Kids” by Pam Myers, B.S.Ed. Here is an excerpt: “At the heart of good manners is a respect for oneself and others. Good manners convey a sense of respect for the sensibilities of other people. When you say “thank you,” you’re taking the time to make the other person feel appreciated. Manners convey quite a bit of information!” To Read the Complete Article go to: www.makorhatikvah.org , go to the articles tab . DONATE TODAY!
