Richard Gill, OAM, will present a one day workshop that explores Orff Schulwerk as it relates to music
outside the ‘Brown Books’. The workshop will investigate how to use available music, from the earliest
times to the present, in order to stimulate composition and improvisation. All sessions will include
extensive work in improvisation. The music selected will cover a range of examples, including recently
composed songs which have earned and maintained popularity amongst music lovers. Applications of
the material to classroom teaching will be demonstrated and there will be plenty of opportunity for
argument and debate.
