What’s happening @
Rooty Hill PS
Happy Education Week!!
Don’t forget that this week is ‘Education Week’ and we look forward to
your sharing a number of special events with us. Education Week provides us with a great opportunity to showcase the great achievements
your children are making at Rooty Hill PS.
Tomorrow,(Wednesday) I hope you will attend our Open Classrooms and
then be impressed by our School Concert – always a great experience for
our boys and girls. You are welcome to view any of our classes in action –
you don’t have to restrict yourself to your own child’s room.
As usual, car-parking outside the school will be a challenge! Please make sure you leave
plenty of time to perhaps walk a bit further than usual if necessary!!
Later tomorrow Art on the Hill will take place at Rooty Hill High School, commencing at
5.00pm. Artworks created by over 100 of our talented students will be in display.
A great achievement.
Below are listed the names of over 100 students who achieved 100% attendance last term.
Thank you Mums and Dads for making sure your children attended school every day and
were able to take full advantage of the great educational programs offered here at Rooty
Hill.

Last Wednesday many of our students from Yrs 3-6 received a free dental check from Western Sydney Health. Students also participated in a short oral health lesson.
Parents will receive information in coming weeks regarding any further treatment students
may require.

Last Friday Year 1 students visited Muru Mittigar Aboriginal Cultural and Education Centre
in Penrith.
Students learnt many interesting things about Indigenous Australians. They learnt about
symbols and types of materials used to create artworks before making their own piece. Students had the opportunity to practise their boomerang throwing technique and see how an
expert throws a boomerang. They also learnt about tools used by Aborigines to hunt and to
protect themselves from harm. Despite a little rain in the morning, Year 1 had a wonderful
day on our excursion.
