This year’s celebrity dinner
was an undeniable success.
Through sponsorships,
ticket sales, auctions, raffles, and tips we brought in
$24,600 for Communities
In Schools of Fitzgerald/
Ben Hill County.
The theme was “Calling All
Superheroes”. Waiters
were asked to dress as
their favorite super hero, or
as anyone who was a hero
to them.
The CIS Top Celebrity
Waiter award went to the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for securing the most
tips and sponsors for the
event and the Most Spirited Waiter award went to
new CIS board member
Gary Smith and the Despicable Me team.
We want to express our
gratitude to everyone who
participated in this event.
It’s a pleasure to be part of
such a generous and funloving community!

BHMS Reading Role
Models
We are so proud of our Be
n Hill Middle
School Reading Role Mode
ls! In order to
be Reading Role Models th
ese 8th graders had to demonstrate go
od reading
skills, good grades, exempla
ry behavior
and meet their own AR go
als. In addition they have committed
to maintain
these good habits and to
be on time
each Monday morning to re
ad with 1st
and 2nd grade students.
This program not only pro
vides much needed one-on-one reading help
for our primary
school students but also giv
es our middle
school students a chance
give back to the
community.
Imaginations sparked on Dr. Seuss Day
Front: Jacob Stanfill (Cat); Aubree Willcox;
Back: Johnny Croley; Muata Smith; Alexis
Leyse; Amanda Roberts; Logan Wallace; Mackenzie Troupe; Alex Wallace.
Our students from Fitzgerald High
School and Ben Hill Middle School
volunteered to dress as characters
from the classic Dr. Seuss book, Cat
in the Hat, and visited Ben Hill PreK and Ben Hill Primary school on
Friday, Feb. 27th. The older students read stories, posed for pictures, and distributed free books to
the younger students in honor of Dr.
Seuss’ birthday.
The BHMS students are part of our
Reading Role Model service learning
project, mentioned above.
Likewise, the FHS students are
members of Hurricane University,
our student organization that focuses on college readiness and community service. Hurricane U students
volunteer regularly at Ben Hill PreK and in select BHPS classrooms.
