Raffle Prizes Needed-the Harvest Festival Raffle Committee is looking for donations of prizes to be used for our raffle table. HARVEST FESTIVAL SEPTEMBER 25TH! PRE SALE IS SET FOR SEPTEMBER 18TH If you have been putting aside treasures to bring to the church for Harvest Festival, the time is getting close! Help make the St. John’s Bric–A–Brac sale a super success! Please bring all of your unwanted items down to the old nursery room, which is located to the right of the stage, for this year's Harvest Festival – September 25th. Should you have any questions please give the church office a call. NEW LIFE CENTER & SENIOR LUNCHEON Please join our next Senior Luncheon at St. John’s on Wednesday, August 31st at 12:30 pm. Prior to the luncheon, we will head over to the New Life Center (311 Uniondale Avenue, Uniondale) to help sort and organize food pantry and back to school donations. We will begin around 10:00 am and conclude around 11:30am/noon. Please let us know if you are planning to attend the luncheon by signing the sheet in the narthex, emailing or calling the church office. Please tell us if you need a ride to Uniondale as well. Invite a friend and join us for a day of food, fellowship and service. Any free will donations to cover the cost of the lunch will be greatly appreciated. Bring a dish and share in the fun and fellowship! ADVENTURELAND TRIP! Let's go have a fun afternoon at the amusement park to celebrate the conclusion of Vacation Bible School – Adventureland located on Route 110 in Farmingdale. Lots of rides to suit all ages. May even want to bring clothes to get wet since there is a great log flume ride. We need a minimum of 20 bracelets to get the group rate. When: Sunday August 28th from 3 PM to Closing Cost: Tickets are $23.00 per unlimited ride bracelet (One price for all) Food Options: 1) $7.00 per person additional for either a hot dog, burger, or chicken nuggets with french fries and small soft drink 2) Bring a bagged lunch or purchase from their cafeteria Deadline: Reserve your ticket now and submit your payment by August 23rd. Help yourself to the delicious vegetables growing in our Welcome Garden. The Pumpkins are growing!!!! During VBS our students get to enjoy wonderful healthy snacks. Below is the list of what food crafts the kids will be doing and items that we need. If you would like to help perhaps you can donate one or two items on our snack list. The snacks are organized by day, so that we will not be storing perishable items. Dry items can be donated early and that would help us as well. Please contact the church office if you can make a donation and let us know what you will be donating so we do not have duplicates of one particular item. Gift cards or monetary donations will also be gladly accepted. Thank you so very much. SYNOD-WIDE DAY OF SERVICE SEPTEMBER 11, 2016 In honor of September 11th, we have decided to do something that honors First Responders. Specifically, we will be putting together gift bags to give to all of the officers of the Lynbrook Police Department as a token of our thanks and gratitude for protecting us. More details to follow in the coming weeks. Also, the t-shirts have arrived! If you ordered shirts you can pick them up on Sunday mornings in the narthex following the 9:30 service.
