INDEPENDENT AUDITOR’S REPORT TO THE MEMBERS OF
THE MASONIC AND MILITARY ORDER OF THE RED CROSS OF CONSTANTINE
We have audited the financial statements of The Masonic and Military Order of the Red Cross of
Constantine for the year ended 31 August 2015 set out on pages 12 to 15. The financial reporting
framework that has been applied in their preparation is applicable law and United Kingdom
Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
This report is made solely to The Masonic and Military Order of the Red Cross of Constantine and its
members, as a body. Our audit work has been undertaken so that we might state to the members
those matters we are required to state to them in an auditor’s report and for no other purpose. To
the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than
The Masonic and Military Order of the Red Cross of Constantine and its members, as a body, for our
audit work, for this report, or for the opinion we have formed.
Respective responsibilities of the Grand Sovereign’s Council and auditor
The Grand Sovereign’s Council is responsible for the control and management of all the property and
the finances of The Masonic and Military Order of the Red Cross of Constantine including for the
preparation of the financial statements and for being satisfied that they give a true and fair view. In
preparing the financial statements the Grand Sovereign’s Council is required to select suitable
accounting policies and to apply them consistently, make judgements and accounting estimates that
are reasonable and prudent, and prepare the financial statements on a going concern unless this is
inappropriate. Our responsibility is to audit and express an opinion on the financial statements in
accordance with applicable law and International Standards on Auditing (UK and Ireland). Those
standards require us to comply with the Auditing Practices Board's Ethical Standards for Auditors.
Scope of the audit of the financial statements
An audit involves obtaining evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements
sufficient to give reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material
misstatement, whether caused by fraud or error. This includes an assessment of: whether the
accounting policies are appropriate to the circumstances of The Masonic and Military Order of the
Red Cross of Constantine and have been consistently applied and adequately disclosed; the
reasonableness of significant accounting estimates made by the Grand Sovereign’s Council; and the
overall presentation of the financial statements.
In addition, we read all the financial and non-financial information in the Grand Sovereign’s Council’s
Report to identify material inconsistencies with the audited financial statements and to identify any
information that is apparently materially incorrect based on, or materially inconsistent with, the
knowledge acquired by us in the course of performing the audit. If we become aware of any
apparent material misstatements or inconsistencies we consider the implications for our report.
Opinion on financial statements
In our opinion, the financial statements:

give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of The Masonic and Military Order of the Red
Cross of Constantine as at 31 August 2015 and of its surplus for the year then ended; and

He Who Would Valiant Be
He who would valiant be ’gainst all disaster,
Let him in constancy follow the Master.
There’s no discouragement shall make him once relent,
His first avowed intent to be a pilgrim.
Who so beset him round with dismal stories,
Do but themselves confound – his strength the more is.
No foes shall stay his might; though he with giants fight,
He will make good his right to be a pilgrim.
Since, Lord, Thou dost defend us with Thy Spirit,
We know we at the end, shall life inherit.
Then fancies flee away! I’ll fear not what men say,
I’ll labour night and day to be a pilgrim.
