About GallopNYC
GallopNYC brings the proven benefits of therapeutic horseback riding to
children and adults with disabilities in NYC. Therapeutic horseback riding
provides measurable benefits for people with developmental, emotional,
social, and physical challenges. Through weekly riding sessions with PATH
Intl. Certified instructors, GallopNYC helps riders walk, talk, connect, focus,
behave and learn, allowing them to embrace new possibilities as they learn
new skills. GallopNYC serves 325 riders every week at five NYC locations.

A Message from GallopNYC’s
Executive Director
At Ride with Pride we show off just how able
our riders are, in a very public and happy way.
By the end of 2014, GallopNYC had given
a horse experience to over 1500 riders. We
helped each of them walk, talk, connect, focus,
behave and learn, inspiring each one to live life
as fully, productively and independently
as possible.
Thank you to all our loyal volunteers for making
this day happen. Quite simply, GallopNYC
would not exist without our volunteers. I am
especially grateful to our Goldman Sachs
volunteers, with us for a seventh year.
Thank you also to Central Park and
the Conservancy for accommodating our show.
And many thanks as well to our staff, especially
Peter Byrne, our Program Manager, James Wilson,
our Director of Operations, Angela Meyer – Sooknarine, our Volunteer Coordinator,
and Anne Townsend, Development Consultant – our talented staff makes the show
a success. Our Board Member Audrey Abbott works tirelessly to make the show
flow smoothly. I also am grateful to our instructors, who make the miracles happen.
Most of our riders are unable to pay our fees and we subsidize the costs of their
lessons with donations and grants from our supporters. This year we have met
our goal of a Championship Blue Ribbon for every rider, thanks to our
generous supporters.
We have made it a tradition to host this event on Father’s Day. I congratulate our
parents, the unheralded champions of the day, as they strive to make every
opportunity available to their cherished children.
As we end our TENTH year and our Eighth Horse Show, I am prouder than ever
of our riders and our team. As we enter our second decade we are making
big plans to reach as many New Yorkers with disabilities and special needs
as we possibly can. Join us for this exciting ride to the future for GallopNYC
and our riders!

7 | Ride With Pride 2015
A Message from GallopNYC’s Chair
Welcome all to GallopNYC's Eighth annual Ride with Pride Horse Show. And it's
GallopNYC's tenth successful year of serving our community through therapeutic
horsemanship. The beaming faces of our riders and their families show just how
proud they are, and how proud we are of them.
Our journey from the three riders one day a week in early 2007 to working with 300
riders seven days a week at five locations has been rewarding for all of us. We are
especially proud to have Prospect Park’s Bowling Green as a riding area where
we have great plans for the long term.
I'm especially proud of our work with Veterans of Armed Conflict, recently profiled
on Fox and Friends. Horses and the military have a long history and great affinity which show in veterans' responses to our work.
GallopNYC’s many achievements are made possible by the generous support,
hard work and passion of hundreds of people:
Our donors and supporters;
Our devoted instructors and volunteers, all of whom literally and figuratively
keep our riders on the horses;
The caring and untiring parents and teachers of our riders;
Our talented, committed board members, who give so much of their time and
creativity to our important mission.
Let’s not forget the kind, patient equines who forge a special bond with each
and every one of our riders, especially the adorable Mocha, Grace, Pride and
Cinnamon, our wonderful equine “staff”.
And finally, I want to thank all of our riders for all of their hard work and spirit.
You are truly the ones who make GallopNYC the wonderful organization that
we all have come to love.
I hope all of you enjoy the show!!
–Suzanne Marquard, GallopNYC Board Chairwoman

Your financial support goes entirely to
providing no cost or reduced price lessons to
the more than two-thirds of our riders who
have low incomes, with a value of $70,500
in the first half of 2014 alone. Because of the
needs of the community we serve, we have
set our fees below costs. GallopNYC
depends on donations to cover the gap.
