Elsteraue/ Alttroeglitz, 12th December 2008 Industriepark Zeitz: Minister Dr. Haseloff inaugurates second PURALUBE re-refinery On 10th December 2008, in the presence of Dr. Reiner Haseloff, Minster of Economics of Saxony-Anhalt and the consul of the US consulate general in Leipzig, Katherine Brucker, Puralube has inaugurated its second re-refinery at the Industriepark Zeitz after a construction period of only 15 months. Members of the German Bundestag, the Landtag of the Burgenlandkreis as well as numerous international guests from politics and industry could be welcomed at the ceremony. Since 2004, Puralube has operated its first refinery using the unique, environmentally friendly HyLubeTM process. From now on, two sister refineries will produce up to 140,000 tons of high quality base oils and mineral oil products from used oil each year. To achieve this doubling of the production capacity at the Zeitz location, the subsidiary of the US based Puralube Inc. (Wayne) invested approx. 45 million Euros and created 45 new working places. In total, the company employs 100 people at the location. Further refinery projects are followed in Europe, the US and Asia. In the course of the ceremony, a co-operation agreement between Puralube and Chinese partners from Changchun (7.1 million inhabitants), provincial capital of the Chinese province of Jilin and heart of the Chinese automotive industry, was signed. Minister Dr. Haseloff appreciated the construction of the second refinery as “an investment with a high future potential”. “Continuously decreasing natural resources will inevitably lead to a worldwide increasing demand for high-quality re-refining oils”, Dr. Haseloff emphasized. “I am pleased to see that a local company will make use of this increasing market chances and invests in the extension of its capacity in Saxony-Anhalt”. The base oils made in Zeitz by using the innovative HyLubeTM process have been established successfully in the European market, he added. The ecological significance of the process and the refinery were also highlighted by the consul general of the US, Katherine Bruckner. Christian Hartmann, CEO of the Puralube Holding: “Puralube has proved that high-grade recycling of used oil is possible. All the advantages of the technology and the products represent an excellent basis for further growth in a dynamically developing market. We are very proud of our employees and our location.” PURALUBE HOLDING GmbH christian.hartmann@puralube.com www.puralube.com
