BFRDsummer 2015 - Big Foot Recreation District
Summer 2015 Providing Recreation & Enrichment For The Residents of Walworth, Sharon, Fontana, Linn and Delavan Township Director’s Corner Recreation Staff Another Day in Paradise Q: “How are you doing today?” A: “Just another day in paradise.” I cringe every time I hear this cliché phrase. Before this phrase was ruined with overuse by offenders attempting to be ironic, this phrase had a positive meaning. As a child, for me this phrase often conjured up images of a long, sandy beach with palm trees (usually pictured on a postcard sent from a relative). Chuck Thiesenhusen Recreation Director cathiesenhusen@bigfoot.k12.wi.us Dean Connley Program Coordinator dconnley@bigfoot.k12.wi.us Penny Skerhutt Office Manager plskerhutt@bigfoot.k12.wi.us General Information But it begs the question, why in our mind must “paradise” be a utopia, an intangible Shangri-La while we muddle through life in the doldrums of earth? If we found paradise, would we know it? Or would we be equally critical that there weren’t enough pearls on the pearly gates. How amazing would it be to wake-up and find ourselves whisked away to a paradise where countless people coveted… to live where many will plan their entire year around a one-week stay. To be home to countless activities and beautiful natural areas to recreate in. Hmmm… As I write this, I am looking out at the lush green grass, trees swaying in the breeze and kids laughing while playing ball. I am welcomed by friendly faces that genuinely ask how my day is going. Later on, I may even walk down to the lake and enjoy a few tranquil moments at the end of the dock. Another day in paradise? I think so.
