1626 West 26th Street Erie, PA 16508 814/454-0171 www.bsparisherie.org Established June 1, 1938 December 20th, 2015 Fourth Sunday of Advent BLESSED SACRAMENT PARISH Dear Parishioners of Blessed Sacrament The only perfect Christmas happened once, over two thousand years ago! Our Christmas is sometimes mixed with memories of loved ones who have gone home or mixed with sickness, disappointments and worries. Whatever the case know that the Lord wishes to be born anew in your heart and He comes with peace, comfort and joy. Welcome Him! In His love we find grace, mercy, compassion and hope. Make Christmas the best it can be for you and yours. Cherish the moments and do all things with love. As you reflect on the year which is quickly coming to an end, be grateful for the many ways the Lord has touched your life and warmed your heart. Thank you for your kindness, friendship, care for your parish and your generosity this past year. We look forward to your help and prayers for the year that lies ahead. Together let us grow in faith, spirit and fellowship. May the babe of Christmas pour down His Blessings on our parish and on our homes with peace reigning in our hearts. Merry Christmas! Monsignor Magraw, Monsignor Stack, Monsignor Mayer, Father DeMartinis and Staff The Mission of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish is: To nourish our love of God through Jesus Christ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Centered in the Eucharist, we are developing a faith community through prayer, education, worship and Christian fellowship. As stewards of God’s love, we strive to share our gifts and talents for the service of God and all His people. STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK 5:15pm 7:30am 9:00am 11:00am 7:30pm Msgr . Mayer Msgr Magr aw Msgr . Mayer Msgr . Stack / Deacon Kunik Father Mike The Gospel today tells of the Virgin Mary, pregnant herself, hurrying off to help her cousin Elizabeth. The model of good stewardship, she who had given herself to bear the Savior gave her time and love to others as well. QUESTION OF THE WEEK ADULT: When was it har dest for you to tr ust in God’s plan for you as Mary did? What can help you at such times? CHILD: When is it har dest for you to obey a par ent or teacher? What can help you obey with more trust? MARRIAGE MOMENT FAMILY PERSPECTIVE The winter solstice brings the longest night of the year. Warm it with candlelight. For some couples, however, dark nights bring depression. If you are among those who are currently struggling in your marriage, turn to the power of prayer as one resource. Mary was excited about her first pregnancy and rushed to tell her cousin. Sadly children are often seen as a liability, “another mouth to feed” or an “obstacle to my career.” It is said “Christmas is for children.” It is more accurate to say “Christmas is for adults to appreciate the gift of children!” In Remembrance/ Honor of: John Alberstadt, Catherine Sinnott Jeanette Ceci, Rose Ceci Albert Metrik Ernie Baker, Mary & Robert Bresnan Marilyn Balliett Bruce Bauer Elmer & Peg Benson, Gregory Benson Leonard & Dorothy Bierzonski Salvatore J. BLESSED SACRAMENT ANNUAL FUND By now hopefully you have r eceived your copy of the Blessed Sacrament Bulldog at home. The Advancement Committee and our staff put together this newsletter to let our parishioners and alumni know all the great things that are happening at Blessed Sacrament School. The Annual Fund, which runs from July 1, 2015 till June 30, 2016 is an opportunity for us to do additional projects beyond our operating budget to improve and enhance our school facilities and provide educational opportunities and scholarships for families to receive a Catholic Education. We received a grant of $7,000 from the Catholic Schools Endowment which will be used to change our internet to seamless wireless in the school. We will now have a school wide network instead of different networks depending on where in the building you are. We need to match that amount with money we receive from this Annual Fund now along with e-rate money to complete this project. We faithfully appeal to our parishioners and alumni to make an end of the year contribution to help with this project so we can give our students a leading edge in technology and better internet reception.
