First Choice America Cool Kids Are Out of This World
“First Choice America’s Cool Kids are Out of this World” was the
theme of this year’s Cool Kids Fun week. The week started at
Chester City Park on June 21st then traveled to Steubenville’s Jim
Wood Park on the 22nd of June, then headed south to Sonneborn
Shelter at Wheeling Park on June 23rd, and finished off the week
on June 24th at First Choice America’s Three Springs Office in
Weirton. Approximately 1,000 children enjoyed the festivities during the 4 day period. All of the children in attendance received
goodie bags with outer space treats inside. They also had a
chance to win a variety of prizes, from baskets filled with outer
space toys to Kennywood and Zoo tickets too. A variety of inflatable amusements added excitement to the event, along with
broadcasts from FROGGY Radio stations. WTOV9’s Snowbird,
Kennywood’s Kenny the Kangaroo, and FROGGY Radio’s Mr.
Froggy were all on hand to welcome the children to this free
event. Once again, the Cool Kids Fun Days were a huge success!

First Choice America’s “People Helping People” Scholarship
applications are now available at all Credit Union offices. The
scholarships are for $1,000 each. Applications must be turned in
by February 28, 2017. Qualified applicants must be a high school
senior, high school graduate, or equivalent and do not have to be
a first year student. Applicants may attend any accredited college,
university, or trade school. The applicant must be a member of
First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union. The complete guidelines accompany the application.
Christmas Clubs Paid
Nearly $3,200,000 was paid out in
Christmas Club Accounts to more than
2,570 Credit Union members this year!
Remember, current Christmas Club
members do not need to re-enroll to continue their Christmas Club for 2017, unless
the amount being deposited into the club
account through payroll deduction is being
changed. Any member wishing to start a
new 2017 Christmas Club Account may enroll anytime throughout the coming year.

First Choice America Credit Union Officials and
Staff participated in the 2016 Independence Day Celebration in downtown Weirton. Employees and their
family members rode on the float sponsored by the
Credit Union, while others walked the parade route
handing out candy to spectators. The Credit Union
also had a booth set up to distribute complimentary
beverages and reusable logo shopping bags to the
parade attendees.

Fall is upon us, the leaves are changing, the air
is clean and crisp, the kids are back in school and
the travel deals are beginning.
Air fares are down, room rates are lower and the
cruise lines are offering the best rates of the year.
Princess, Holland America, Celebrity, Norwegian,
MSC all have fall specials along with Royal
Caribbean and Carnival. Fall cruises are the least
expensive of the year. With increased capacity the rates will be even lower.
Carnival’s new ship, the VISTA, will be Carnival’s first of a new class of cruise ships
with a gross tonnage of 135,000 tons and will hold over 4,000 passengers. The Vista will
sail from Miami. Worldview Travel Representatives will be touring the Vista this October
and will report back in January’s Briefer with all the new bells and whistles this new class
of ship will have to offer.
Royal Caribbean’s new ship, the Harmony of the Sea, will enter service this fall. With
a capacity well over 6,000 passengers and a gross tonnage of 227,000 tons (1,700 tons
more than their largest ships, the Oasis and the Allure) the Harmony will sail from Ft. Lauderdale.
With this increased berth and capacity, beverage packages and increased service to
Florida from Pittsburgh, this will be the year to sail.
