Introduction
The BANGO Single Shot Launcher is a sport training system designed to train
the shooter and dog. A synthetic BANGO bird takes flight from the launcher.
Once in flight the BANGO target bird tries to avoid the shooters shot gun blast.
The BANGO target is a biodegradable balloon that can be filled with powder
(optional). Upon impact the visual display tells the shooter the target has been
hit. Only use trap loads or #8.
NOTE: The balloon targets are not necessary for everyday training.
The rest of the target, a soft bird shape, survives the shot and falls to the
ground so that your dog can retrieve it.
BANGO is a self-scoring sport and can best be described as sporting clays with
your dog. As you train for shooting, your dog is trained for competition or
hunting.
Check out www.bumperboy.com for tournaments near you.

The Single Shot Launcher provides an enhanced tool to present retrieving
opportunities to your dog that simulate hunting situations.
Shoot and Retrieve
Nothing trains a dog like a real shooting experience. BANGO targets allow you
to complete the training experience.
Marking
Many different marking setups can be created. Water or land, point drills, big
water, covers drills, hills, swamps etc. All train your dog for the real experience.
Complex Drills
Cheating singles, breaking, sit to flush, quartering, cover drills, channel drills
Historic Devices Ruin Dogs
Hand held and gun-mounted launchers promote breaking, chasing, look up
complex, gun shyness, and can cause permanent ear damage. No advanced
drills can be accomplished with these products. Do you and your dog a favor
and never train with these devices.

BANGO Single Shot Launcher Description
Frame and End Plates – Support the
launcher assembly and angle adjustment
rod.
Angle Adjustment Rod – Support
the launcher tube base and provide the
means of adjusting the angle of the
launcher tube.
Launcher Assembly – The Launcher
Assembly contains all the components
for launching a bumper.
Collapsible Stakes – Help support the
unit during launches.
7
Launcher Assembly – The Launcher Assembly contains all the components
for launching a bumper. Principal components and their functions are as
shown:
Lever and Firing Pin Assembly – Contains the mechanical components that set
and ultimately release the firing pin. Includes cocking handle.
Barrel – Accepts the BANGO bird or bumper for launching.
Shell Breech – Accepts a .22 cal blank cartridge to provide the energy to launch
BANGO Birds.
Shell Ejector – Pulls the spent cartridge from the breech to assist with removal
of the shell.
How it works – When the cocking handle is pulled down, the firing pin is pulled
back from the firing chamber and the firing pin spring is compressed. The
spring-loaded trigger falls into the keyway in the firing pin. You will hear a
distinct click when the trigger falls into the keyway. When the release cord is
pulled it pulls the trigger from the keyway, releasing the firing pin. The firing
pin initiates the .22 caliber blank cartridge, launching the bird.

Quick Start
Introduce Your Dog to the BANGO Launcher
Like any new training tool the dog should be introduced to it properly.
Introduce the new type of bumper by hand throwing it in the yard; it may smell
and fly differently than the bumpers you use. In some cases the dog may
think it is a live bird and will not pick up the synthetic bird. This is temporary
and your dog will soon learn the BANGO bird was launched. If your dog is not
accustomed to gunfire, introduce the sound at a distance by placing the unit at
least 40 yards away from the dog.
Safety
The launcher can project bumpers or BANGO birds at life threatening
velocities. When loaded, it can be as dangerous as a gun and should be treated
like a weapon. Use extreme care in very dry climates to avoid potentially
causing a fire in tinder dry grass.
• Children should not have access to the equipment or ammunition.
• At no time should you lean over a launcher during the loading process.
• When cocking the launcher make sure each trigger is positively engaged
(listen for the click).
• Never point the launcher at anything except sky.
• Never move the launcher when loaded.
• Clear the breech when you have finished your training.
• Positioning, loading, etc should be done without cocking the firing pin. The
last step should be to cock the unit.
CAUTION
• DO NOT setup in tinder dry grass. It is possible that the .22 cal hot air could start a grass fire.
• In any dry area caution should be used by placing a fire protection blanket under the launcher.

Operation in the Field
Your BANGO Single Shot Launcher is a flexible tool that will provide realistic
training situations to prepare your dog for hunting and competition. The
following step-by-step procedures will assist you to safely and effectively use
the BANGO Shoot and Retrieve in your training program.
Plan the scenario: Examine the terrain and choose the lines you wish to use
to challenge your dog. Select the location for emplacing the launcher, the area
of fall for the bumper or BANGO Bird, and the location of the line from which
you and your dog will run the scenario. Consider the effect wind may have on
the path of the bumper and the dog’s performance.
NOTE: Be careful to inspect the line your dog may run and the area of the fall
for holes, hidden ditches, or other obstacles that may injure your dog.
Loading the Launcher:
• Slide the BANGO bird onto the launcher barrel.
• Unlatch the firing assembly so the shell breech is open.
• Insert a .22 caliber blank cartridge.
• Close the breech.
You can vary the range of the launcher to bumper impact point by varying the
angle of the firing tube, using the wing nut on the angle adjustment rod, or by
varying the position of the bumper on the firing tube.
The optimum angle of the firing tubes is between 50 and 60 degrees from the
horizontal. Increasing that angle will cause the bumper to travel higher and
11
shorten the range to bumper impact. Reducing the angle will result in a lower
trajectory and increase the range.
The range to the point of impact may also be varied by adjusting the position of
the bumper on the firing tube. Maximum range (45 to 50 yards) will be reached
by sliding the bumper all the way down the tube. Range can be reduced if the
bumper is not slid all the way down the tube. Place a small piece of tubing
behind the bumper to hold it in place on the firing tube.
CAUTION
• If the soil is very hard, or very soft, such that the launcher legs may not remain in
place when the release cord is pulled, secure the launcher frame to the ground with
the supplied peg.
Setup in the Field:
• Load the launcher. Do NOT cock the firing pin.
• Select a flat surface with sparse cover.
• Align the firing tube to the area of the fall.
• Secure the launcher frame to the ground with the supplied peg. Place the peg
to hold down the front frame tube closest to the fall of the bumper.
• Thread the pull cord to ensure the straightest line possible to activate the
firing pin release mechanism.
WARNING: Never place your body or body parts in the path of the bumper or in
front of the launching tube. Serious injury can result if the unit accidentally fires.
• Cock the firing pin as the last step.
12
Launch the Bumpers:
• Place your dog at the location required for your scenario.
• Take up the slack in the pull cord and give the pull rod a sharp easy tug to fire
the launcher. Practice this move before loading a shell in the unit.
Unloading the Launcher:
If the bumper has been launched:
• Open the launcher breech.
• Disengage the angle adjustment rod and rotate the launcher tube 180 degrees.
• Remove the expended cartridges.
NOTE: Do not leave expended cartridges in the launcher. Corrosion could
damage the launch tube or freeze the cartridge in the breech.
No attempt has been made to launch the bumper:
• Open the breech.
• Disengage the angle adjustment rod from the firing tube base.
• Rotate the launcher tubes and bumper to the breech up position.
• Remove the cartridge.
• Press the trigger arm to release the firing pin.
Wet Weather Training:
Clear accumulated water or mud from the barrel of the bumpers by vigorously
spinning them at the end of the bumper cord or repeatedly tapping the BANGO
bird upright on the ground.
13
Maintenance
Bumper Care
Keep the bumpers clean. Clear accumulated grit and carbon from the bumper
barrel with a 12 gauge shotgun soft cleaning tip. DO NOT oil the barrels.
Launcher Care
Weekly care
• Apply a small amount of silicone grease to the O-rings on the launcher tubes.
• Lubrication – Use spray dry graphite to lubricate the firing and cocking assem
bly. Cock the unit, spray graphite into the firing pin hole, and manually release
the firing pin by moving the trigger arm.
• Keep launcher components clean.
• If you are getting distance problems, first fire a shell without a bumper on
the firing tube. If problem persists clean accumulated carbon and grit from the
launcher tube barrel with a .22 caliber cleaning rod and cleaning patch soaked
with nitro powder solvent.
Trouble Shooting Guide
Lack of Power
The bumper or bird only launched 10 or 20 ft.
• Make sure the bumpers are dry and free of mud
• Fire a shell without bumper on. This will clean the inside of the firing barrel.
• Clean barrel with .22 cal brush.
• Make sure the shells are dry.
14
Will not Cock
• Something is stopping the lever from coming out to engage in the key way.
• Lubricate the firing mechanism with dry graphite.
• Loosen the lever arm nut and bolt
The launcher tube misfires. That is, you attempted to launch but failed
to launch the bumpers.
• Check to determine if the firing pin released.
If still cocked:
• Lubricate the firing mechanism with dry graphite.
If the firing pin is released
• Examine the cartridge to see if the firing pin made contact with the cartridge
base.
• If so, and the cartridge is expended, load a fresh cartridge and repeat your
scenario.
• If it appears that the firing pin did not strike the cartridge call Bumper Boy

BANGO Target System
BANGO is a sport that allows you and your dog to experience real hunting
situation. Using both real shot gun loads (only use a trap load or #8) and a
synthetic highflying target bird the shooter and dog test their skills.
The target is a biodegradable balloon type target that is filled with powder that
explodes upon impact of the shotgun pellets. The bird shape target than falls to
the ground so that your dog can retrieve it.
In competition tournament launchers and automated target machines are used.
However, all Bumper Boy portable launchers will launch BANGO targets. This is
a great way to practice and tune your dog up for hunting season.
Check out www.bumperboy.com for tournaments near you.

Making a Manual Target
4 inch
The targets can be purchased from any Bumper Boy dealer. They can then be
filled with powder for a more visual effect or just inflated. The following
provides you information on manual target making.
NOTE: the balloon targets are not necessary for every day training.
Optional Filling
The targets can be filled with standard house flour and a little construction
chalk mix. Orange is best. Using a standard funnel and a small spoon, put the
target over the bottom of the funnel and use one tea spoon of powder mix.
The target can be inflated with a stand balloon pump. Note that the target
is only inflated to 4 inches for tournament use. Twist the target and use tie
device or plastic clips to seal. Install the target on the bird before you put it on
the launcher. May be installed on the launcher as long as the firing pin is not
cocked.
