Each neighborhood acted out a fable, complete with costumes, for the students and our residents. After each fable , the moral of the story was discussed. Our Fable Festival was an excellent example of multi-generation interaction at its finest. It was hard to tell who enjoyed it more the students, the residents, or the staff! See insert for more details! Want to make a difference for your loved one? Have suggestions or ideas to share? If you are a family member of a South Haven Resident, please join us at our Family Council Meeting on Wednesday, May 20th at 5 pm. Babies, Babies, Everywhere! Recently South Haven held their 1st “Baby Bash”. Employees were asked to bring their children that were 3 years and younger. Residents were able to watch, reminisce and tell stories of their children. Some chose to get in on the action and share hugs and play time with the children. Still others enjoyed the cuddling and rocking of the little ones. The enjoyment could be seen on the faces of the little ones and the residents! Spring pastels and smiles were everywhere as our Alden Neighborhood hosted a Spring Fling for everyone. A favorite local piano player, Louis Klinzman, led all of us in a lively sing-along. Table decorations were fresh pansies planted in buckets. The pansies were the door prizes which spread a touch of spring throughout the building. Each neighborhood chose a story to act out. A special thanks to everyone who contributed! We are co-hosting, with Lakemont, a Prime Rib Dinner & Accordion Party during National Nursing Home Week. Does your South Haven loved one have a favorite recipe? Or do you have a recipe that you’d like to share? Our Dietary Manager, Kali, is looking for new recipes for summertime and she’d love to try some of the resident favorites. Please drop them off at the front desk or email them to mfrahm@vhsmail.com. Thank You! Neighborhood News Sheridan We really enjoyed our lunch outing to Rezac’s in Weston. All but 2 of us went and enjoyed the food, conversation and pie! We enjoyed participating and acting in the Fable Festival. We are making plans for NNHW in May. Alden Plans are being made for a “Lunch Un-outing”. We will be bringing in our residents requests / favorites from area restaurants to enjoy. We have made special centerpieces for the occasion. Preparations are underway for National Nursing Home Week. We have been watching videos of the Wahoo Dance Academy. It has been a real treat to see the talents of these young people!
