MASTERING BRAIN CHEMISTRY: Four-day workshop for
physicians in advanced nutrient therapy protocols for mental,
learning/behavioral disorders, and autism spectrum disorders
developed through extensive research and clinical experience by
William Walsh, PhD, FACN, president of the non-profit Walsh
Research Institute, and Mary Megson, MD, FAAP, developmental
pediatrician and founder of Pediatric & Adolescent Ability Center.
The WRI Physician Education Workshop is aimed at teaching physicians in advanced, drugfree therapies for behavior disorders, autism, ADHD, anxiety, clinical depression, bipolar
disorder, schizophrenia, and neurodegenerative disorders. The four-day program will include
an update on new advances in brain science, the impact of nutrient imbalances on brain
levels of key neurotransmitters, and the ability of specific nutrients to regulate gene
expression of proteins and normalize neurotransmission. Dr. Walsh’s nutrient therapy system is
based on his database containing millions of chemical factors in blood, urine, and tissues
that have identified brain-changing imbalances in these disorders. Attendees will
participate in actual patient evaluations including in-depth health history, evaluation of
blood/urine lab results, diagnosis of chemical imbalances and individualized treatment
design. The program’s objective is to enable physicians to incorporate these advanced
natural, drug-free protocols into their medical practice.

This CME activity is being planned and implemented in
accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education
through the Joint Providership of The Institute for Medical
Studies (IMS) and Walsh Research Institute. IMS is
accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing
medical education for physicians. This live activity will
be designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.*

WALSH RESEARCH INSTITUTE
Physician Education Workshop
October 15-18, 2016
Physician Training Program on Advanced Nutrient Therapy Protocols
Participants will learn:
• Advanced biochemical treatments for autism-spectrum disorders
• The impact of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals on synthesis and functioning of neurotransmitters
• The six primary nutrient imbalances associated with mental disorders
• Diagnosis and treatment of methylation disorders, including a discussion of genetic testing, MTHFR, and methylfolate
supplements
• Biochemical classifications of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and behavior, and individualized treatments for
each phenotype
• Effective nutrient protocols aimed at normalizing blood/brain chemistry
• Advanced epigenetic therapies for regulating reuptake at serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine synapses
• A promising new treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s Disease
• A clinical approach for reducing crime and violence
• Specialized laboratory testing to enable accurate diagnosis
The objective of the four-day workshop is to enable physicians to provide appropriate lab testing and accurate diagnosis for
mental and behavioral disorders and equip them to design effective individualized nutrient treatment programs. In advance
of the WRI Physician Education Workshop, physicians are provided with written and visual learning materials to study.
Please note: Participating doctors are invited to bring one or more of their patients for a complimentary assessment led by
Dr. Walsh and Dr. Megson. The lab test fee is approximately $400. Please contact Sue at sue@walshinstitute.org or
630.506.5066 to register a patient.
William J. Walsh, PhD, FACN, of Walsh Research Institute
William J. Walsh, PhD, FACN, is president of the non-profit Walsh Research Institute near Chicago and directs
physician and practitioner-training programs internationally including in the United States, Australia, England,
Ireland, Japan and Norway.
An internationally recognized expert on biochemical imbalances, Dr. Walsh has devoted nearly 40 years to
researching the biochemistry behind behavior, learning and memory, mental health and various disease
conditions. He developed science-based, advanced nutrient therapies that have helped thousands of
patients challenged by behavioral disorders, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, ADHD, autism, and Alzheimer’s
disease, and are used by doctors throughout the world.
Dr. Walsh’s approach recognizes that nutrient imbalances can alter brain levels of key neurotransmitters, disrupt
gene expression of proteins and enzymes, and cripple the body’s protection against environmental toxins.
12),
Dr. Walsh’s book, Nutrient Power
(Skyhorse Publishing, 2014, 2012), describes his findings and the advanced nutrient therapies which correct
describes
biochemical imbalances that are causing learning, behavioral, developmental, and mental health issues. Dr. Walsh has authored more
than 200 scientific articles and reports and has five patents. He has presented his experimental research at the American Psychiatric
Association, the U.S. Senate, the National Institute of Mental Health, and has been a speaker at 30 international conferences. His early
work included a twelve-year collaboration with the renowned (late) Carl C. Pfeiffer, MD, PhD, of Princeton, NJ. www.walshinstitute.org
Mary Megson, MD, FAAP, is a developmental pediatrician and founder of Pediatric & Adolescent Ability
Center (Richmond, VA). As a developmental specialist in pediatrics, she devotes her career to children with
developmental issues including ADHD/ADD, autism spectrum disorder, and Asperger's syndrome. Since 2007,
Dr. Megson has served as a faculty member of the Walsh Research Institute/Bio-Balance Health Australia
Medical Doctor Training Program. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a member
of the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Dr. Megson's research includes the use of
Vitamin A and bethanecol in treatment of autism spectrum disorders. She believes that autism is caused by a
sequence of environmental events in genetically vulnerable children.
Dr. Megson is currently investigating the hypothesis that G-alpha protein defects are a high-risk factor for
developing autism after vaccination. Her clinical trial of 60 children suggests that inserting a G-alpha protein
defect - the pertussis toxin found in DTaP vaccine - into genetically at-risk children may be a cause of autism.
She studied how changes in cell signaling may lead to autism, by looking at the gene profiles in over 1,000
affected children. Dr. Megson discovered SNPs involving protein signaling in over half of these children.
Dr. Megson is credited with the largest number of recovered autistic patients in the USA DAN® Conference.
Her work with autistic children is featured in the documentary film, Beautiful Son.
