AUG 5 - Tomas Claudio Memorial College
Happy 65th Anniversary!
For all stakeholders and friends of Tomas Claudio Colleges

Vol. 10, No. 1, SY 2015-2016
TCC academic heads attend
OBE seminar-workshop
OBE consultant,
Dr. Cordova, stressing a point
The surging tide of outcomesbased education (OBE) is here and
now. Last July 10-11, all academic
heads were asked by Pres. Rodolfo
San Felipe to attend the seminar
workshop on OBE at the CHARM
conference hall, conducted by Dr.
Ignacio C. Cordova, Jr. Said event is
basically part of TCC's preparation and
readiness for the current K-12 program
of the education department. It also
serves as the venue to officially
announce to all academic heads the
new name of the institution, from the old
Tomas Claudio Memorial College to
Tomas Claudio Colleges. President
San Felipe emphasized the relevance
of OBE, not only as a mandate from the
education department but for the
enhancement of faculty effectiveness in
the teaching-learning process. It is also
aligned with the aggressive
accreditation initiatives for all key
degree-programs of TCC. The
OBE attendees, all ears to Pres. San Felipe
Accreditation status of the various
programs are, as follows: Bachelor of
Science in Business Administration
(BSBA) has Level II first reaccredited
status; Master of Arts in Education
(MAEd) has Level I formal accredited
status; Bachelor of Science in Hotel &
Restaurant Management (BSHRM),
Bachelor of Science in Computer
Science (BSCS), and Bachelor of
Secondary Education (BSEd), all three
programs have acquired candidate
status. We are now in the Age of
Accreditation, and the TCC Board is
supportive of the president's and the
faculty initiatives.
History of the College
TCC is now 65
and going strong
TCC shall always endeavor to do
more for the students.
Founded on August 15, 1950,
Tomas Claudio Colleges (formerly Tomas
Claudio Memorial College) is one of the
pioneering private higher education
institutions, particularly serving the people
along the lakeshore towns of Eastern Rizal.
And it is doing great despite the challenges
of globalization and the economic
slowdown worldwide. It was named in
honor of Tomas Claudio, a national hero
from Morong, who died during the First
World War as an Allied soldier fighting for
the ideals of democracy. Today, TCC
serves as a reliable and proactive partner
of the province in the education sector.
Board of Trustees.The
governing body of the College is the Board
of Trustees, which ensures all stakeholders
a sense of objectivity, integrity, openness
and transparency in the College's

Tomas Claudio Colleges, new name
and new initiatives
Publish by TOMAS CLAUDIO COLLEGE
To all TCC stakeholders:
At 65, Tomas Claudio Colleges is on a new journey for relevant and
responsive education, sporting a brand new name!
In retrospect, the
change of name from TCMC to
TCC brings back to memory
Ralph Waldo Emerson's
rhetorical question, “What's in
a name?” The American poet
was, of course, referring to a
rose when he asked that
question. In my view, whether
the subject is a rose or an
institution of higher learning,
its generic essence must not
be lost in the discourse, neither
in the nerves and vitals of the
people who value the
subject. In the case of TCC, its
about the heroism of Tomas
Claudio, which we would like to
inculcate among all our
stakeholders – students,
faculty members, nonteaching personnel, parents,

TCC is now 65
governance and management.
The Board is composed of Prof.
Edmund C. Francisco, chairman;
Dr. Antonio R. Mateo, vice
chairman; Mrs. Filipina BautistaLegaspi, treasurer; Dr. Aladdin F.
Trinidad, a noted law-practitioner
and educator in the community,
trustee;
Dr. Rodolfo S. San
Felipe, trustee and president of
the College; Dr. Emil Francisco,
trustee; and Ms. Dalisay F.
Soriano, trustee and auditor.
Estela Garrovillas-Pascual is the
board secretary.
Key Officers.
Administrative officers of the
College are, as follows:
Dr.
Rodolfo S. San Felipe, President;
Ms. Minda SJ. dela Vega,
College Registrar; Ms. Aurea H.
Fernando, Finance and
Administration Officer; Dr. Eva R.
de Rosas, Dean of Graduate
Studies and Academic
Coordinator, Education and
Liberal Arts; Dr. Liwayway M.
Piedad, Dean of the College of
and the larger community
that TCC is serving.
But like Carmen
Guerrero-Nakpil we should
not tire looking for heroes in
our midst; especially living
heroes within our immediate
environment, not only dead
heroes cast in stone or granite
monuments.
Yes, indeed,
living heroes who would
always do good deeds for their
fellowmen, for the larger
community and for the greater
good. These living heroes are
Trustworthy, Competent,and
Committed to what is right
and just - all Claudian values
that we honor and inculcate
among our students at
Tomas Claudio Colleges.
In the 65th anniversary of
our beloved institution, let
me remind you that our
country is in dire need of
heroes! My fervent wish is
for all our stakeholders to
accept that challenge with
a strong resolve and fortitude,
as demonstrated by soldierh e r o To m a s C l a u d i o ,
who died during World War I,
fighting for democracy and
the greater good!

Academic Linkages.
Along with the flat-world theory
of Thomas Friedman, the 21st
century is also the age of
academic linkages driven by
world “flatteners” like ICT and
advances in transportation. TCC
is active in developing academic
linkages and is presently active
in PACU, PACSB, and other
organizations of colleges and
universities in CALABARZON.
Its president, Dr. Rodolfo S. San
Felipe, has served as governor
of Rotary International District
3800, and has served in the
provincial government of Rizal
Province in various capacities,
related to Accounting and
Finance.
