Trinity Epistle - Trinity Lutheran Church
Trinity Lutheran Church 5005 I-40 West Non Profit Organization U.S. Postage Paid Amarillo, Texas 79106 Amarillo, Texas Change Service Requested Permit No. 307 Trinity Epistle February 2016 It is one of those years where pastors found themselves thinking about Lent even before Christmas decorations come down. Since Easter is much earlier this year, Lent also comes earlier than most years. By the time you read this Ash Wednesday will be les than two weeks away. It seems we just finished Christmas and already Lent is upon us. This year during the 40 days of Lent we will take the familiar journey through repentance over sin and receiving the gift of God’s grace and forgiveness because of what Christ has done for us. We know that as people of God, Lent is a mere 40 days and Easter is waiting for us on the other side of that journey. We live out the season of Lent as Easter people in the hope of the resurrection. This will be the theme as we live the season of lent. As always our Lenten season will be marked with our mid-week worship services. We will have the meals sponsored by the various groups prior to each of those mid-week services. We will celebrate Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday followed by Good Friday. At the end of it all we will come to the anticipated celebration of Christ’s resurrection, Easter Sunday. This Lent season will be similar to all those Lenten journeys we have had before. Yet, this year we will experience the Lenten journey as Easter people of God. On another page of this bulletin you will see the whole Lenten schedule. Feel free to share this schedule. Look forward to making this journey together as we once again receive the assurance that our sins are forgiven and our day of resurrection salvation is certain. Sunday School News: February Sunday School Theme is “Cooperation— working together to do more than you can do alone.” Remember that we start in the music room on Sunday mornings for opening worship. High School Youth are working through the “Not a Fan” series in the youth room on Sunday Mornings. We are discovering the difference between being a fan of God’s vs. being a Follower.
