The History of Balzano
The History of Balzano
(More than 100 years of serving kitchens around the world)
1908
Aluminium household goods begin to be produced, and we become
a main supplier for the Italian Army. Carlo Molino, an eminent
architect of the Italian Futurist movement is commissioned,
designing products for us reflect the most modern production
techniques of the time.
1970s
Savino Balzano acquires our factory. With new ownership, the
company undergoes its most successful period. Marco Zanuso,
Italy’s father of modern design, is hired to to design the stainless
steel line. Together, the iconic Carmencita coffee pot is designed,
making coffee affordable for all.
1984 - 1999
Langenthal, a Swiss producer of Porcelian acquires shares in our
factory. Balzano becomes the preferred choice for professional
chefs in hotels of the Conrad and Four Seasons Group. Items made
from Stainless Steel such as coffee pots, buffet chafing dishes and
cutlery are supplied.
Today
Founded in the Aosta Valley region of Italy and perfected for over a century,
Balzano’s innovative products make for a brilliant kitchen. Form meets function in
such a way that our products are not only easy on the eyes, but on the chef – our
cookware works harder, so you don’t have to. Welcomed and renowned in
professional kitchens worldwide, Balzano invites you to experience its quality and
craftsmanship first-hand.
Balzano originates from Verres, a small town in the northern part of Italy.
Our factory started producing heavy steel for industrial use.
1936
Stainless steel is integrated into the factory. This is used to produce pots
and pans with a three layered base. . These products are widely accepted in
Italy and go on to be sold in France, Belgium and then the rest of Europe.
1984
Working with Lavazza, Savino Balzano designs and produces the
“Espresso Point Matinee” which is one of the world’s first automatic coffee
machines that use small coffee-filled capsules. The Matinee becomes an
icon for coffee aficionados in the 1990s.
1999
Our history of commitment to produce the finest kitchen and coffee-making
products is being maintained. Moreover, our customers can now enjoy our
new products. These are water and air purifiers, oil-less air fryers, coldpressed juicers and cosmetics that emphasise healthy living and

Balzano originates from Verres, a small town in the
northern part of Italy. Our factory started producing heavy
steel for industrial use.
In 1936, the Cravetto steel plant gave birth to the company,
Guinzio Rossi, which became the largest producer of
aluminum household items all across Italy. Guinzio Rossi
was a pioneer in both household product design and
architecture.
In the 1940s, Guinzio Rossi produced a key product greatly
enhancing the daily life of the local people – the aluminum
milk bottle, which locals used to collect fresh milk. The
aluminum milk bottle would go on to become part of history
and heritage for Italians.
Guinzio Rossi advanced the futuristic movement with the
help of Carlo Molino, a famous Italian designer. Together
they designed and built futuristic household items and
furniture. Through collaboration with Guinzio Rossi,
Lavazza, and Carlo Molino, the first iconic aluminum coffee
pot, La Kicca, was invented. This coffee pot was
monumental in popularizing coffee-making amongst both
the wealthy and working classes.
Stainless steel is integrated into the factory. This is used to
produce pots and pans with a three layered base. . These
products are widely accepted in Italy and go on to be sold
in France, Belgium and then the rest of Europe.
Savino Balzano acquires our factory. With new ownership,
the company undergoes its most successful period.
Marco Zanuso, Italy’s father of modern design, is hired to to design
the stainless steel line. Together, the iconic Carmencita coffee pot
is designed, making coffee affordable for all.
1908
Savino Balzano met Dr. Loiacono, the marketing director of
Lavazza, at a flying club in Torino. They worked together to invent
the “espresso point” machine.

Balzano collaborated with Giorgetto Giugiaro, a famous Italian
automobile designer, who had designed cars for Ferrari and
Lamborghini, to design its cookware and coffee maker. Many of
Balzano’s product ideas were generated during this period of
collaboration.
1990s
In 2013, Balzano was once again independently owned and
renewed its original commitment to producing quality hand-crafted
metal wares for which it was so famous. Design and production is
still based in Italy and, as a result, Balzano is the favored partner to
produce the highest quality cookware for other companies such as
WMF in Germany, Spring in Switzerland, and Lavazza and
Sambonet in Italy. From stylish Zanuso-era coffee pots to multi-ply
copper cookware, Balzano combines the best of Italian style and
workmanship for the kitchen.
2013
Today, Balzano is successfully diversifying into small home
appliances, coffee machines and coffee-related products. It has
collaborated with the renowned Italian designer, Pino Spagnolo, to
design their futuristic and innovative cookware, home appliances,
and coffee machines.
