Spring - Summer 2009 - Manoir Ronald McDonald de Montréal
Montreal Ronald McDonald House
5 475 extra nights!
After several years of work, the
construction of the new Ronald
McDonald House of Montreal
began August 19th, 2009.
The efforts of the Board of Directors of the FONDATION
DES AMIS DE L’ENFANCE
(Montréal) inc., its president,
Normand Renaud and the
director, Jacqueline Mallet
made it possible for this project’s
realization.
The new house will increase
from 35 rooms to 50 rooms, a
possibility of 5475 extra nights
per year. With this expansion,
the House will be able to help
more families from remote areas,
offering a total of 18 250 nights
per year.
The area of the building will
expand from 22 000 square feet to
44 000 square feet.
Manon Renaud Architect are the
designers of the project.
Ms. Renaud has created large
brightly lit common areas offering
parents a warm and welcoming
atmosphere.
The move is planned for the
month of September 2010. The
new house is located at
5800 Hudson Road, on the
grounds of the CHU Sainte
Justine, which have offered a 50
year lease on the land.

A McHappy Day surprise visit
We had the great pleasure
of receiving Alexandre
Despatie to highlight this
year`s McHappy Day 2009
held on May 6th. As ambassador of RMHC, Alexandre
met with the families staying at the
House inviting them to participate in this
event which has become an annual
fundraising tradition held by
McDonald’s Restaurants across
Canada.
To share the news, Émilie DutilBrunneau of National invited Medias
for a photo shoot. Alexandre and his
mother toured the house and hosted a
special event with the children of the
House. Together, they drew the
McHappy logo which they gave the
House as a souvenir of this special day.
The House thanks Alexandre, the
children and all the parents who
participated in this very McHappy Day!
