C O MP E T IT IONS RULES
The Ecuadorian Architect Association (CAE-P), organizes since 1978, the Quito
Pan-American Architecture Biennial (BAQ) being this the time in which an exchange,
comparison and analysis around architectural and urban projects occur within their
current trends.
Quito`s Panamerican Biennial develops around three main axes:
- Pan-American Competition (of projects built in the American continent)
- Academic Event (national and international lectures)
- Cultural Activities (which take place throughout the city as the event unfolds)
PAN-AMERICAN COMPETITION
For 35 years, this event has allowed us to put in competition more than 5000 projects
built in the American continent, awarding their input on architecture, urbanism and
architectural theory.
This competition develops independently from the academic event, which allows to
separate the seminary thematic from the judging process; meaning that the academic event will not influence on the criteria used for judging the projects participating
in the competition.
All projects participating in the competition that accomplish all requirements demanded in the competition rules, will be part of the cultural exposition which will be
exposed during the Biennial week, and will participate in the judging process, from
which winners will be anounced and rewarded with a prize.
E. ARCHITECTURAL REVIEWS/URBAN/LANDSCAPE THEORY,
HISTORY AND CRITIQUE

continent. They should have been published and printed during the period between
November 2010 and October 2014 and that have not participated in previous BAQ
