To date, the 2nd Annual Phonathon has raised over $30,000 for the Center! We are so appreciative of every single contribution made to this campaign and are amazed each and every day as additional gifts come in through the mail — Thank You! The success of this campaign is certainly because of the efforts of its chair, Mary Anne Aichele, and our Volunteer Coordinator, Marie Johnston, as well as all the members of the community who made phone calls and donations. We started this campaign in 2013 in an effort to find an economically efficient way to raise much needed dollars. With an almost 30% increase in its second year, this is certainly proving to be a successful campaign for Schreiber. On behalf of all the children we serve, thank you for taking our call and giving generously. YOU are turning disabilities into abilities for thousands of children right here in Central PA. President Lead Therapist Wins Top Honors! This spring, Central Penn Parent magazine honored Director of Therapy Services, Angie Rice, at the 2014 Healthcare Heroes Awards banquet. She was the category winner for Pediatric Specialties! Congratulations, Angie! Schreiber Pediatric recently created a new outdoor solid surface play area thanks to some very generous businesses in the community. A grand opening and thank you reception took place on Tuesday, May 13th complete with an official ribbon-cutting, light refreshments and of course, a song performance by just a few of the children who will benefit from this addition to the Center. The renovation has enhanced the daycare program’s toddler play space – a structural area that keeps them both safe and enjoying some fresh air all-year round. Previously, there was no outdoor space to accommodate the younger daycare children who were learning to crawl or just beginning to walk. Now, children of all abilities, including those using walkers, wheelchairs, and crutches, can enjoy outdoor activities together. This project was made possible through the support of ECORE International, a locally-based recycled flooring company, who donated Playguard tiles, as well as other project necessities and labor. In addition, BR Kreider excavated the space, Pennsy Supply graciously donated the compact stone necessary to create a solid base, and volunteers from Simeral Construction, Crossgates Golf Course and students from Lancaster Catholic High provided the labor. What made this event special was that it rallied members of the community for a very important cause; everyone worked together to make sure we had the proper equipment and that the installation was seamless. Now, each and every day, anyone in the building can look out on the playground and see some smiling faces enjoying the new play space. Thank you to everyone who makes a difference here at the Center each and every day. Attention Parents: Important Attendance Policy Update! In order to progress in therapy, it is very important that your child participates in his/her sessions regularly. However, we understand that situations may arise that will cause your child to miss a therapy session. When you are unable to keep your child’s therapy session, please call the Center as soon as possible and speak to the receptionist or scheduling department; therapists should not be given notice regarding cancellations. If you do not give prior notice to the receptionist or scheduling department and miss a therapy session, this is considered a NO SHOW. At your first no show, you will be issued a warning letter. At your second no show, your child will immediately be discharged from services at the Center. Frequent cancellations not due to illness or family emergency are tracked and documented. Excessive cancellations (50% of your sessions in a month) could result in your child’s appointment time(s) being altered or cancelled. Due to the long list of children waiting for services, we cannot hold appointment times for children that do not show up for scheduled services. • • • • Schreiber’s Scheduling Department can be reached at 717-393-0425. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Donate online at www.schreiberpediatric.org • JUNE 2014 Grounds for Celebration!
