The focus was on taking existing technologies and presenting to the end user in a way that provides them with the answer to their question. MK Demonstrator Confidentiality Status: Catapult Restricted Data Access Activities within the SAR context • UK/Italian bilateral agreement between UKSA and ASI: – Procurement of a COSMO-Skymed Commercial User Terminal by the Catapult – R&D programme to exploit Cosmo-Skymed Data • SARAD: Key Activities User Engagement Covers all the outreach activities such as publicity, workshops, training courses etc. Support Covers engagement with users for collaboration on application development, proof of concept activities and use of Catapult and other facilities. Facilities Covers the data/hardware/software aspects of SARAD activities, including working with others such as CEMS and the S-band Airborne SAR. 19 NovaSAR • Low cost S-band SAR imagery – Designed as a solution for medium resolution applications where there is a market for more data or a desire for a national capability • First satellite planned for launch early 2016 – SSTL-300 platform avionics with bespoke structure – S-band SAR payload (Airbus Defence&Space) • A collaborative constellation is planned to support timely data through rapid revisits • UK Government £21M grant to support development of first mission • 15% of capacity of first mission is for UK government use SAC responsible for develop the Ground Segment System: processing, archiving, distributing the data 20 AirSAR X & S Band SAR Demonstrations Creating a UK based airborne SAR asset for easy deployment Simulating NovaSAR data to encourage downstream application development Sentinel Data Monitoring Jellyfish to increase national energy security Jellyfish aggregation ~133m in length The sea has been enhanced to emphasise the presence of jellyfish Monitoring ground deformation over major industrial sites Infrastructure monitoring – Transport Infrastructure Management Service (TIMS) – EAS Artes IAP Project Feasibility Project Aims – • Demonstrating capabilities of satellite technologies for transport infrastructure management • Providing a detailed service description by working together with the user design teams • Considering an adaptive platform for a seamless cost-effective data communication and management suitable for future commercial service based on integrated ground and satellite data sources. • • Integration of: • Satellite communication • Earth Observation; InSAR for ground deformation monitoring • GNSS • Ground sensors – Tilt, crack, vibration, temperature Establishing the multi-disciplinary supply chain capable of delivering • • this type of data based service http://artes-apps.esa.int/projects/tim 25 26 27 Agriculture Farm Management Platform KisanHub (ATVL) is a web based agricultural information system for farmers, concerned with a broad range of farm information including market prices, weather, and national statistics. The Catapult are helping make optical satellite data available through their service to aid agricultural decision making, through information about crop growth and development. 28 Agriculture - Sentinel 1 Exploitation Monitoring crop growth with SAR data AgSpace develop agronomy tools, which include the processing and delivery of satellite data. The Catapult are working to help enhance their offering by considering the use of SAR data for crop management, focused on the forthcoming Sentinel-1 mission.
