From January 1, 2014 to September 15, 2014 KID was
the responsibility of the Minister of Tourism Parks and
Recreation, Honourable Dr. Richard Starke. On
September 15, 2014 KID was assigned to the
Honourable Kyle Fawcett in Environment & Sustainable
Resource Development.

The KID Annual General Meeting was held February 4, 2014 in the Mt. Allan
Room in the Mount Kidd Manor;
A very successful Kananaskis Emergency Services Showcase event was held
on June 11, 2014 at the Nakiska ski hill;
KID assisted the Delta with annual Canada Day celebrations that were held in
the Kananaskis Village;
At the Annual Firefighter of the Year dinner in December, Fraser Curwin was
named the 2014 KID Firefighter of the Year.

• KID will provide mandated municipal services in an efficient and
cost effective manner;

the Office of the Auditor General. The Auditor General made no
recommendations.
The Budget and Audit Committee approved;
• $1,200 donation to Bow Valley Victim Services Association;
• $500 donation to the Bow River Basin Council;
Property Tax Relief Grant Kananaskis Country Golf Course was received
Disaster Recovery Program submissions totaling $570,000 was received.
Approved a zero percent increase to the municipal property tax revenue
for 2014

Decrease and divert garbage from landfill through recycling initiatives;
Increase in community events, involvement and support by hiring Sondy
Szymanis to provide local activities;
Enhanced long term tourism, investment and economic growth, sponsorship
with the Kananaskis Mountain Festival;
Currently studying a Septage receiving station for the Evan Thomas Area.
Awarded the replacement pump / rescue fire truck to Alberta based company
Rocky Mountain Phoenix of Red Deer.

FINANCIAL RESERVE
Financial Reserve Programs
Kananaskis Improvement District has established, and
maintains a comprehensive operating reserve program
and a comprehensive capital reserve program. The
purpose of these funds is to replace, restore and update
assets.
In addition, Council has committed to establishing and
maintaining a Community Initiatives Fund to assist in
the development of community relations as well as the
Water Reduction Strategy to assist residents and
businesses in reducing their overall water consumption.

EPCOR regarding the construction of the Evan Thomas
Water Treatment Plant and distribution system (P3 Project).
Construction completed in Summer 2014.

• Repaired water infiltration issues at the Mount Kidd RV Park
Loop C lift station and the Boundary Ranch Lift Stations.
• Installed a new lid on the Boundary Ranch lift station.
• Installed new alarm Autodialler’s at the Mount Kidd Loop C lift
station, Mount Kidd staff housing lift station and the Boundary
Ranch lift station.
PUBLIC WORKS – SOLID WASTE
• KID solid waste management contractor removed
approximately 700 tonne of solid waste in 2014.
• Coordinated with Alberta Parks staff to install 20 new
garbage containers in the Sheep area.

contract to Foothills

solid waste removal.
PUBLIC WORKS - ROADS
Coordinated with Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation,
Volker Stevin & Alberta Transportation to overlay new
pavement in the Mount Kidd RV Park main road.
PUBLIC WORKS – STREET LIGHTING
Continued with light bulb and ballast
repair / replacement for street lighting
in the Kananaskis Village, Mt Kidd and
Golf Course subdivisions.
Commenced the LED street lighting retrofit throughout the
Evan Thomas area, this project will continue through 2015.

throughout the Kananaskis Improvement District and revision of the KID
Wildfire Mitigation Strategy.
