TRAVELLING TO, AND ACCOMMODATION IN, WOLLONGONG
It is 80 km from Sydney to Wollongong.
(1) Air transport:
All international and domestic flights will land at Sydney's Kingsford-Smith Airport. From here, you
will have several options by which to travel the 80 km to Wollongong. You may find out more about
Sydney's Kingsford-Smith Airport from its web site (http://www.sydneyairport.com.au/).
(2) Rail transport to Wollongong:
An electric train links Sydney Airport with the city train service: Transfield Airport Link. For
information on this service, please go to the following web site (http://www.airportlink.com.au). The
train runs at 15-min intervals, and takes 15 min to get to the city.
To get to Wollongong by train (Cityrail service), you may catch a train from Central Station, or take
the Airport Link south one stop to the Wolli Creek station, which links with that line. An electric train
travels through the second oldest National Park in the world. The trip takes about 1.5 hours from
Central Station to Wollongong Station. For details (timetables, costs, etc.) of rail transport visit the
Cityrail web site (http://www.cityrail.nsw.gov.au). You will be travelling on the South Coast Line (the
first part of this line is called the Illawarra Line), and this is indicated as blue on the following map.
The following map gives you detail of the Wollongong section of the network.

Several private shuttle mini-buses are available which offer a door-to-door service. We recommend a
Wollongong company: Kelly's Airport Express. The bus will meet you outside the terminal and deliver
you to your hotel within 60-75 minutes. Advance bookings are required.
